Teacher License Renewal

Featured Replies

Well this is an update to an earlier post. I went to my Regional Education Offices ZONE 1 to find out what i needed to do about my teacher license renewal. Well being that i have no degree and only 3 1/2 years experience as an English teacher + TESOL i expected to be told you don't have a degree so therefore you cannot get a teacher license.

Well to my amazement i was told i need to get confirmation of my GCSE grades from my school in England and all will be OK. They have even told me they will process my license pending the confirmation from my school.

So there is another twist in the teacher requirements row.

I'm just glad i have got this @@@@ sorted out as i'm going to the Uk for the summer holiday and didnt want to come back to the hassels of licenses, visas and work permits.

So good luck to all of you in the same position.

wow,whats that all about then?

You know, one thing i noticed about the requirements for getting a non-im b from Thai consulate Hull was that it didn't specify what type of education certificate you needed to supply.

It just said 'education certificate' ?

Great news, moonhunt. We'd heard that other renewals were sailing right through (as compared to new applications), but you never know until it's over. As for the grades from England, that's a new one. I think this decentralized practice, where each local office has more authority, produces some odd variations.

I don't think renewals are expected to be a problem. Our office gal who takes care of Work Permits, Teacher's Licenses etc., told me at the beginning that everyone we had on staff would be OK, but that new teachers had to meet the tougher requirements.

We have a number of people on staff who have gotten teacher's licenses based on some "ify" certifications--not fake, but not University degrees.
