Is that sheet or tiles on the addition? Looks like capillary action towards the front end because of the low angle of the structure.
Is there a gutter at the back side from the original roof or is it all dumping straight onto the new addition?
You would probably need to seal the sheets along the edges as they are laid or fitted otherwise the correct product to cover the entire surface as a blanket....
Very expensive for the covering products as I have looked myself..

Cant help with a contractor but the roof looks like it is overlapping  asbestos sheet with a very low fall angle, making it all but impossible to make waterproof, best take it all off and put on lightweight one piece steel sheets, they are not expensive and are waterproof on the joints because of the way they are ribbed at the overlap point of the sheets.  They come in various lengths one sheet would probably go from back to front.
