It may surprise you to know that a lot of those girls walking around the mall won't sleep with someone old enough to be their father at any price.  Apparently, you think the whole town is still just a giant brothel comprised of mostly just tattoo'd issan bargirls.

Your correct a lot wont but luckily a lot will....lol

Do you really think a lot of those girls don't have a price? I doubt that very much. The type that really doesn't have a price (upper class and rich) don't hang out at shopping malls on opening week... or they are already spoken for.

It's dead here now - desperation hangs thick in the October air.

  • Some photos from yesterday...the queue to get into the car park was horrid !!!! don't use the entrance on North Pattaya road as the make you snake all round the building before being able to park

  • Care for a worn-out phrase? Pattaya is not Thailand and Thailand is not Pattaya

The rich were there for the VIP opening.

. So it became exhausting and annoying … like an AIRPORT.

Tell me about it: U.S. Customs, Newark International and LAX.

The wife and i have really missed out on the Pattaya experiance , we have not visited the new Mall yet , God i feel as if i dont belong here .????

I dont see the whole airport theme doing much for people who have made plenty of international flights....To the hardened traveler airports are kind of a bore....

But for people who have not traveled much I think they will love it....Its almost like getting a mini vacation for free....

Where  is this, another awful mall? I will be visiting Pattaya briefly next month, and would love to avoid the place.

Thailand is all about the street stalls, keep the overpriced, cold shopping malls elsewhere.

why do you not google it then you will know where the building is???

Yes, I know a little about Pattaya.  I have lived in Pattaya, full time, for the last 10 Years.

Then you should know. If Pattaya isn't just a screwed up mess  of build planning, traffic planning,  utilities infrastructure, things built in the wrong place and for all the wrong reasons, no traffic control, then I dont know what place is. I live outside, thank goodness.  I only venture into the mess that is Pattaya City when I absolutely have to, and I doubt very much that it will ever be to visit yet another mall that tries to be Hong Kong or Singapore, where they do plan things properly. If you want to see how they should do things , visit there.

I live in Jomtien and as a rule stay poolside on the big holiday weekends because even the main South Pattaya to Jomtien routes are gridlocked. I can only imagine the even greater chaos that will occur in North Pattaya now on one of those long weekends. I still prefer goods shopping in Bangkok every couple of months for a day out via the airport bus because I'm usually looking for something specialist, having numerous malls with principally the same chain outlets offering the same products is pretty boring.

People here saying they don't go to or like malls in Thailand remind me of the unbearable pretentious people that say (and are usually lying) that they don't watch any television. Your loss!

I quite like going to the malls, even though I rarely buy anything.  It's the getting to them I can't stand!  Traffic getting too much like Bangkok.

I don't see how it would screw up Pattaya. Pattaya continues to grow and this is part of it.

No problem with Pattaya continuing to grow, but it needs to expand more outside the central Pattaya Tai/Nua - Beach Road/3rd Road square.   The infrastructure within that area was exhausted years ago.

Yeah I think the Jomtien area (beachside rather than Sukhumwit side) could definitely use at least a smaller scale "big" mall that has all the basics, cinema, food court, grocery (how about a Friendship Market?), Boots/Watsons, and some destination restaurants.

Oh how joyful, isn't this what we all were waiting for? Be careful what you wish for..

I'll wait for the reports of it dying down before going to check Arno's. It's the only thing that has piqued my interest, there can never be enough meat. If they put a vegan restaurant next to it so I can hear the wailing of the rabbit food munchers while I tuck in delicious murder I'll head there right away.

I tried their burger today , very good with blue cheese, but maybe not the best I had. It was free btw for first 300 customers, last day on Friday.

Agree...The Pattaya infrastructure is long overdue for a update.

A lot of what you write is true but many of these things give Pattaya it's charm.  I love Pattaya after being here for many years. Sure,  Pattaya is not for everyone.

I was a  bit harsh I guess. it does indeed have all its own charm, of a sorts,  but  that in my opinion doesn't  include yet more run of the mill shopping malls.  I feel that its trying to be something its not and never can be,  The frustration is that it is on what could be a most beautiful part of the Gulf of Thailand and with a bit of forward thinking, vision and  good planning it really could have been the jewel of LOS.  As it is, it isn't.

Because it screws up the rest of Pattaya even more.  had it been on the Dark Side it may have made some sense.  Positioned where it is, it makes no planning sense at all.

What makes no sense is your suggestion it should be on the dark side.

You did a survey?

It is also full of local ex-pats and local Thais.

Some people just want to find reasons to piss and moan around here while they are waiting for the bars to open.

That place only gets visitors due too their good and very inexpensive food court..

Anyway its still remains mis located Jomtien beach front a much smarter choice.

Why would a breakdown of what its full of be of interest to anyone wanting to visit? Are you suggesting local Thais aren't going there? I'd say local Thai people make up the majority of patrons, by a wide margin. A mall full of Thai people is what everyone expects in Thailand. Whether they are locals, weekenders or out of towners doesn't make any difference.

A low-cost foodcourt and a few restaurants that weren't in Pattaya before are the highlights I've spotted so far. All else seems to be standard mall stuff.

The toilets are the Draw...Korat, anyways

How about a SKYTRAIN there from Jomtien?!? :partytime2:

That serves as my daily ration of humor.

And just in case some developer caught on to the idea of building a mall in Jomtiem, would the local powers that be provide the necessary infrastructure  improvements?
