BANGKOK, 19th October 2018 (NNT) – Many areas across Thailand are expected to experience continuous rainfall this weekend, particularly the Northeast and the South.

The Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of scattered thunderstorms in the northern, central and eastern regions of the country while noting that the northeastern region is likely to receive heavier downpours than other areas.

As for the South, from Surat Thani downwards, the department forecasts heavy rain in some areas from October 20-22 due to a low-pressure trough moving towards the Gulf of Thailand from the South China Sea. This system is also expected to bring more showers to the lower part of the Central Plains, including Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as the East.

Therefore, residents in all affected regions are urged to be cautious of rain-induced dangers. Agriculturists are advised to take preemptive action against possible crop damage.

I am sure to have read a conflicting report where the south and east were mentioned.

No word of Isaan/northeast.

And why does Thai met weather outlook shows no significant chance of rain for the coming days (Khon Kaen, Nong Bua, Korat etc.)?

Really! bone dry as well, more like March weather than October, going to be some serious water shortages this year in this area.
