BANGKOK, 20th October 2018 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has called for a thorough review of the draft cybersecurity act which was recently vetted by the Council of State.

Government Spokesperson Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd said today the prime minister hasn’t yet seen the latest draft, but has asked related agencies to make sure the bill complies with ethical codes, impartiality, the rule of law, and today’s circumstances. Most importantly, he said the law must provide checks and balances because the power under this law should never be concentrated in the hands of individuals and organizations.

Lt Gen Sansern said the draft cybersecurity act will have to pass three sittings of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), meaning it can still be amended to fit the context of Thailand.

He added that governmental agencies have been instructed to study laws and regulations of other nations and always heed public suggestions and concerns when drafting a law.

Nah, now it's the PM practising his spin-doctor 101 routine. I'm guessing he''s still on chapter one.

For once he may be worried about HIS legacy.  How do you balance Thailand 4.0 with a heavily censored Internet ?  Of course, he does want to get elected as well.

Anyone in doubt what that means?

Neither here nor there, as it's been quite clear that they haven't a clue as to how to go about [technical side] harnessing their obsessing towards internet censorship and blockage.

No they haven’t-guess you didn’t notice they have to invent everything in the world themselves, thus the 30 to 60 year delay.

He has a lot to worry about if this is becoming a concern. A four year span with no indication of concern for his legacy will be tough to make up.

So.....what do they truly fear?

Protecting something?

[the inquiries are rhetorical]
