Retired married to a Thai visa extension

Featured Replies

I'm having some problems getting money shifted to get up to the B400,000 in time for the 90 day on deposit requirement.  Does any one know if it is possible to get a 30 day extension on the year visa to meet this requirement?

If applying for an extension of stay based upon marriage the 400k baht only has to be in the bank for 2 months on the date you apply.

If needed you could apply for a 60 day extension to visit your Thai wife.

Thanks.  I keep finding conflicting information on whether 60 or 90. Even official document from Chaeng Wattana unclear.

From this page on the immigration website. https://www.immigration.go.th/content/service_18

"(6) In the case of marriage to a Thai woman, the alien husband must earn an average annual income
of no less than Baht 40,000 per month or must have no less than Baht 400,000 in a bank account in
Thailand for the past two months to cover expenses for one year."

1st time and renewal is 60 days marriage.

That is for all extension of stay applications. If it was different between the first and the ones after that it would state that.

You are confusing retirement extension requirements that are 60 days for the first extension and then 3 months after that. For those it states this.

"(4) On the filing date, the applicant must have funds deposited in a bank in Thailand of no less than Baht 800,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant must have proof of a deposit account in which said amount of funds has been maintained for no less than 60 days prior to the filing date:"

For an extension as a spouse it is neither. It is 2 months for the first time and subsequent renewals.
