Non-Imm OA - Cheapest Insurance

Featured Replies

Hi,

I doubt it's the best option but worth considering. If i went that route the insurance would be bare bones just to pass requirements.

Any idea what the cheapest rate would be for a 55 year old with no pre-existing conditions?

Thank you

Go with a non-O that doesn't require insurance. Why anyone would go the non-OA route escapes me.

A lot of people on and applying for Non-Immigrant Type OA (& OX) visas get insurance thru one of the approved companies listed on the longstay website but get like 1 million baht deductible (where you'd pay the first 33k USD of any claim).

That's about the only way to drive the premium down and "tick the box" for the mandatory 100k USD health insurance

Here's the longstay link for OA companies

Seeing as you can get almost 2 full years of stay in thailand out of an OA visa without banking a single baht in a thai bank account, MANY people elect to do that rather than bring money in or start down the slippery slope of using an agent to 'grease the wheelz" 😉

I agree, anyone with a good interest deal in their home country bank or offshore etc would prefer to keep their money making money.

Paying a 15 to 27k annual fee for a basic plan isn’t too bad and some will see that as a no worries write off.

The U.K. police check can be done easily online and the medical certificate can be gotten for around 300/350 baht at a Thai clinic and accepted at London’s Thai Embassy ( at least it used to be ! ).

Anyone who visits their home country every two years and is willing to put a little effort in should give it a little thought.

I had the OA from 2016 to 2021 , when the mandatory insurance was introduced ( October 2029 I think ) it was a setback, shortly followed by a large increase in premiums ( and coverage ) and I dropped it for the O visa, but in hindsight maybe it wasn’t such a bad deal.
