Chiang Mai immigration - non-O based on marriage extension question

Featured Replies

So I have an appointment on Dec 6 for an income verification affidavit. I booked it months ago at us consulate in Chiang Mai. And since it's before Dec 12 or Jan 1, will Chiang Mai immigration still take it and if they will can I use it alone like last year. I would like to know so that I can plan to do like last year or get ready to go get a multi-entry non-immigrant in Laos.

You will be able to get the income and affidavit and use it to apply for an extension of stay for 6 months from the date of issue as of today. Just watch for any other info between now and when you apply for your extension.

You might be asked for back up proof of your income at immigration. Chiang Mai immigration has been reported asking for it from some people.

So you're saying that they're doing away with the extension of stay for one year if you use the income verification form as of today ?

No did not say that in anyway.

I did say you can apply for the extension when it is due.

As of today means according to the info I have available today.

Oh I think I misunderstood you so I think you're saying that the income verification affidavit from the US Consulate is good for 6 months once I get it and that I can still use that to get my visa extension.

Thank you I'm so stressed out about this a lot of people are stressed out about this, I'm 2,000 baht short of meeting their minimum requirement of 40,000 they won't let you combined your Thai wife's income with it.

So while technically I meet the minimum requirements that letter helps me because my income comes from sources the pay into PayPal that can't be tracked very well according to the Thai requirements.
