PHUKET:-- Hopes that the operation to recover the sunken ‘Phoenix’ tour boat would see the wreck moved to the halfway point from where it can be floated to the surface fell short today (Oct 30) as the salvage team managed to move the boat only 40 metres.

The salvage team from Spitz Tech Co Ltd, which has been contracted by the government to recover the Phoenix, attempted a major operation to move the boat starting at 11am today, Wiwat Chitchertwong, Acting Director of the Phuket Marine Office, told The Phuket News.

The attempt today aimed to moved the boat halfway to where it will be refloated in waters only 25 metres deep.

“We expect that the Phoenix will be on land in the next two to three days,” he said.
It is on land, except the land is at the bottom of the sea..............What a bunch of pathetic, useless morons.

It is certainly not a good promotional opportunity for Spitz Tech Co Ltd. Whoever they are.

Why not? The ones potentially hiring them see how easy it is to make money with them.

"The ones potentially hiring them see how easy it is to make money with them." - don't you mean, "how easy it is to commit fraud with them?"

Was the company just formed for this job? Do they have any kind of workable salvage history? I find it hard to believe they're not intentionally delaying this vessel to be examined properly.

Not been a good month for Spitz Tech Co. Earlier this month, one of their salvage team fell off the salvage boat and died. This following on from September when the whole salvage plan was revised after early failures. They obviously don't want to let the Chinese anywhere near it or any other foreigners in case facts that are better kept in the dark become revealed.

Perhaps they could get the Chinese to remove the Ocean Dream which the Chinese abandoned near the entrance to Laem Chabang port. A bit of quid pro quo.

There are foreigners working on lifting Phoenix.

And the diver who died did not die because he fell of the boat, he died due to other causes, on which I shall not further expand here due to potentially legal issues.

I was just thinking about it this morning, has the Phoenix risen ,

or is it still on the bottom, and its still on the bottom, hope

these guys are not been paid by the hour !, filling 45 gall drums

with air is just not going to do it,but its taking them a long

time to realise that. I'll check back in a few weeks to see if its

any nearer the surface.
