Featured Replies

I choose to post here please.

Have a new phone,
need to transfer/backup old phone to new.
Old = Samsung Galaxy S4 (Thailand)
New = Motorola Moto G6 (USA)

Apps, Contacts, Data

My thoughts ,,,
Old pho > desktop > new pho
I have not a clue how to do this.
What app/proggy?

Both devices are 'paired' with bluetooth.

Any and all advice/rec's are wellcome.

Go to app store look for "clone it" and that will move whatever you choose from phone to phone.

Thank you CharlieH, however the app was a total fail.
Both devices are bluethooth paired, tried that, failed.
Seems the app wants a WiFi hotspot, tried that, failed.
Just SNAFU, not FUBAR.
I do appreciate your post !!!
I just need another app / proggy / method
Perhaps I am more Smartphone dumb than I thought.
I removed the app from both phones.
Again, thanks

Assuming that you have turned on the automatic backup on your old phone, when starting up your new phone for the first time, just be sure to use the same Google account as the one on the old phone. Then select the option to restore from the old phone. Google will very nicely install all your apps, your emails, all your contacts and most of your settings for you. It takes quite a while, but just let it get on with it.

Of course you will need an internet connection for it to work.

That should get most of your stuff across.

If you have saved other personal data (photos, documents etc) into Google Drive or One Drive, they will also copy them to your new phone for you as long as you use the same login on both phones.

^^^ Bahtboy sent a PM but it seems more sensible to reply here as it may help others.

First you have to back up your data and settings to your Google account on the old phone. You have to do this first and you have to give it plenty of time. Once that's done, when you set up a new phone using the same Google account it should give you the option to restore from the old phone. Again, it will take some time.

If you have already set up the new phone without doing a restore you may have to reset the new phone by deleting the account on the phone, and then start the setup again in order to get the restore option.

The second link describes the entire procedure quite well, including how to set up the backup on the old phone. There may be minor variations depending on which version of Android your phones are on.

Thanks for the links and details.

I crafted a reply, was called away, returned
hit 'Submit', failed. I had been logged out.
Re-Login, it was not saved. PITA.
Not OK at all.
The logout time should be user selectable.
