Thai woman drugs and robs Italian pensioner she met at The Avenue, Pattaya

An Italian pensioner thought his luck was in when he met two nice ladies at The Avenue on Beach Two Road in Pattaya.

They showed Cosimo Tato, 64, some English money and convinced him that they were into selling condos and could arrange to get one for him.

They seemed so pleasant so he took them to his room nearby at The Base condo in Central Pattaya.

One of the ladies asked to put her pounds sterling in his safe - he was happy to oblige.

He made everyone a coffee as they sat down to discuss buying property in Thailand.

The next thing he knew he woke up and all his money and property in the safe was gone.

He had clearly been drugged.

Missing was 5,000 Euros, 35,000 baht and a valuable gold necklace - in total it was all worth 302,000 baht.

Pattaya station chief Pol Col Apichai Krobpetch told the story to reporters saying that the crime happened back in February.

CCTV identified previous offender Amorn Yeumya, 48, as one of the women concerned and a warrant was issued.

She has just been caught while police are still seeking her accomplice.

Amorn has admitted drugging the pensioner by putting something a friend gave her in his coffee.

She has initially been charged with theft from a property at night and detained.

He probably thought, they are nice ladies, i'll lock the safe later. Naive but very possible.

Another blight on the world class family resort! She doesn't look the type that I would buy a condo from.

Ok makes sense. Can't really blame him as a tourist he would be warm and fuzzy and who has a problem with money going INTO your safe? Clever scheme

Having stayed at The Base condo before I know they use those cheap safes.  One night my safe wouldn't open so I went on youtube and figured out how to open it without knowing the combination or a key.  I'm sure thieves can easily break into these cheap hotel type safes.

I saw the same vid I think when my battery died in my home safe and I lost the key. It involves bashing the top of the safe with my fist until the pin dropped. And it worked!

Maybe she looked different when he met her 8 months ago?

Thai women real estate workers are all thieves and liars....buying a condo from strangers??? beggars belief

Maybe just looked over his shoulder and saw the 4 diget code, she would most likely be next to him with her money going into the safe and he may have just started feeling the effects of the drugs they slipped into his drink.

But of course real property sale women, just happily goes with their customers to their hotel rooms. They also ask to put all their money in the buyers safe.

Must have been a Italian Stallion with a dysfunctional second brain that unfortunately was placed on top of his shoulders.

No mention if he got any of his cash / belongings returned???

I'm guessing that mean... no....

Eight or nine months after the fact, I'm sure the two lady thieves found good uses for the guy's cash in the meantime.

"May I leave my money in your condo's safe while I'm in your condo, because I'm afraid you might rob me while I'm in your condo."

Mayn youtube videos on how to open cheap safes.  I like the one where the man used a potato to open it, and it worked.

Bad enough to take a puying home and get ripped off…but by a 48 year old? Seriously? Talk about adding insult to injury.

Maybe she looked like a Thai Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman, Kate Beckinsale, or Angelina Jolie?

48 can easy pass for late 30"s in Asia. Add some beer goggles and your well on your way

The security of the Base condo is deficient.

If security took the 2 ladies ID card, maybe they not dare commit the theft.

Problem of The Base condo is too many short stay tourists ..... security not do the job !!!

I bet he was.

Not often a stranger asks to deposit their cash in your safe.

Who wouldn't.

Bet he was dribbling with excitement.

Now there's a surprise.

I can hardly believe it.

She wanted to put her goods into his safe, he wanted to put his goods in her & make a large deposit ...

one born every minute... come to Thailand and leave your brains in Italy !!

If it had been a farang-woman the police would have shown her face, as they alsways do.

Why do they hide the face of the Thai?

Is she really so ugly? Or are they protecting her privacy (which is not neccessary with farangs)? ????

Edited by doublezero

Nobody in their right mind would allow a total stranger to either see where he hid his key or see the combination to the safe. This guy is the very definition of a fool. Also try not to leave a drink unattended and never accept a drink from a stranger. He broke all the rules.

Guys like this give foreigners a bad reputation. What did WC Fields say about these guys?

Where can I buy that type of drug they use to knock out the victim? Sometimes I need a deep sleep and could do with that type of inducement.

Old world robbery tricks finally making it to Thailand? Pretty d*** by the pensioner! Don't they warn about such trickery on Italian TV? I remember seeing reenactments of such tricks on TV in the 1980s...

He must have been smoking something good when he met those two

and believed their story

One can't beat pussy power ,,,, men always fall for "it",,,,,
