What exactly is Big Joke's brief? Now he's arresting Thai fraudsters

 

 

The Thai immigration Facebook page reported on the arrest of two Thai nationals in an online scam involving fraud connected to investment in equipment used for spa facials.

 

The arrests continued the trend of immigration chief Surachate Hakparn's involvement in crimes of all sorts, not just those concerning immigration matters. 

 

This trend started when Maj Gen Surachate - known as Big Joke in the media - was assistant chief at the tourist police. 

 

The immigration Facebook page that Patsaraporn Chotsingsiri and Phiphatchai Jongjitphaisan had been arrested. 

 

 

Patsaraporn advertised on Facebook for investors in a facial spa equipment business. 

 

When investors put in 30,000 baht they received 3,500 baht interest in the first week and more soon after. 

 

But when larger investments were made the fraudsters disappeared with all the money. 

 

Losses amounted to 30 million baht and there are thought to be more than 100 victims. 

 

So far only ten have complained to police.

What about... a policeman who deals with all different crimes he comes across and does not look away because it's not in his job description?

Apparently IO's can take on any crime deemed "BJ" and photo op worthy.   Big Joke just cruises, and skims the juicy offenses activity?  He must be loved by honest BiB digging and pounding the streets, working their asses off (if there is such thing), and have it scooped by immigration....

It's promotional work. In the past catching bad guys flew under the radar and barely rated a mention
But with BJ at the helm a one day overstayer is a possibility of making the front page news

He is turning into Batman.

He is doing a great job , if only more were like him..It would be a better place ..At least it is a start .

I wish he could sort out the incompetent staff at immigration or at least get one person who can speak

English. 

His mission ? He will be the next PM when there is another coup, maybe in 3 years time.

He is being groomed for presentation as backup candidate for PM in the coming election if the Prayuth card is deemed unplayable by that time.

It's the same as a Project Managers job. If no-one has the lead the whole thing can go to ratsh-t. 

Lost count of the projects where the Proj' Mgr' gets all the glory when it all goes to plan. He gets centre stage at the meetings and gets earmarked for the next big or bigger project.

Some of his decisions may upset department managers or workers but the end result will be the same, the job gets done.

If he clears the junkies and pushers out of Suk' road and gets the scammers etc, where is the problem?

A good project manager can inspire those who work for him making them realise it's in their own interest to do the job they are being paid to do.

It would be good if UK had someone similar to clear out the illegal economic immigrant wasters living on government handouts paid for by working UK residents.

No doubt the bleeding heart lefties will disagree with me.

I think big joke is the fraudster.  Seriously who could possible have the time to conduct so many separate investigations each day, single handedly arrest so many and still have time for wardrobe and makeup before the numerous daily media conferences and photographs.

I doubt very much if he runs around putting handcuffs on each and every individual. He sends out the troops to do the job and then meets them later when they have rounded up a load of illegals. A quick photo shoot and job done.

Plan and move on to the next area.

Where's the problem?

Regardless of his official titles, he's the poster boy for Thailand police department.  He gets credit for everything that his underling accomplish down to the smallest bust.

The only problem I can see is reading these stories using common sense and being able to rationalize. Having these abilities allows you to quickly work out this is a load of old b***** used for political spin.

I do not really understand the criticism of BJ here. He acts about most everything that is claimed about at this place and what do you do? Start claiming on BJ. Grow up or shut up, whatever you prefer.

Anything for revenue collection. Remember he came from the RCD (the revenue collection dept.). That is who he is. He is an absolute phony.

The only problem is with those who just can't help themselves in running down a job well done, anyone would think they had an axe to grind or something to hide. 

Personally I wouldn't care if he rounded up every dodgy foreigner and every criminal in Thailand and had 1 hundred photo shoots a day and appeared on the front page of every newspaper in Thailand.

They have many persons at all Immigration stations that can speak English. Probably they speak much better English than many foreigners that stay long time in Thailand speak Thai.

In my opinion he does a good job, and that´s the reason why he get do work in more areas than any other police officer.

Are police such specialists?  Surely that is the bottom line of all police forces everywhere.  Only in Thailand do such demarcation squabbles arise.
