PHUKET: All progress on the two flyovers planned to be built over Thepkrasattri Rd is on hold for at least another year after a formal protest pointed out that one of the proposed flyover sites is within one kilometre of sites of historical value in the area.

The two flyers, together costing about B200 million, are both to be ‘mid-air U-turns’, allowing traffic heading northbound to return southbound unimpeded, and without causing delays to other motorists.

One is planned to be built near the ‘Yee Teng mansion’ in Koh Kaew, the other planned to be built in Mu Dok Kaeo, north of Thalang Town.

With the ever increasing number of vehicles on the roads rapid improvements are necessary to help keep the flow moving otherwise Phuket will face gridlock before too long. Lengthy negotiations over payments (all other excuses are just smokescreens) should not be allowed & there have been many in the past such as the water tank fiasco on Visit Rd
