International model who survived 2004 tsunami looking for two Thai men who helped her

 

 

A famous Czech model who survived the Asian Tsunami on Boxing Day 2004 is looking for two Thai men who helped her that fateful day.

 

Petra Nemcova, 39, is making a documentary about her experiences and will be in Thailand in December.

 

Petra was swept inland as the devastating tsunami hit Khao Lak. She ended up clutching a palm tree.

 

She has never been able to contact the Thai man who was the first to get help and enable her to descend from the tree. She was stuck in the tree for eight hours according to a page on Wikipedia.

 

She also wants to contact the Thai man who was in the next bed in hospital who gave her an amulet before she was transferred for treatment elsewhere.

 

Petra, then 25, suffered four fractures including a broken pelvis and internal bleeding. Apart from physical problems she suffered severe emotional trauma yet has had a career as an international model and Czech TV host.

 

She lost her then fiance Simon Atlee in the disaster. He drowned. 

 

Following the tsunami she made many visits to Thailand and set up the Happy Hearts Fund. She was responsible for helping to repair and build local schools in Thailand. 

 

Sanook reported that the Facebook page of Pokchonn Dissayabutra had said she would be in Thailand next month to make a documentary relating the horror of that day along with her respect and appreciation of the Thai people who helped her.

 

Apart from the two Thai men she is also looking for a girl born on the day the wave hit who was given the name "Tsunami". 

 

Khao Lak was one of the worst hit areas on the Thai coast with waves up to 10 meters recorded. Many people died there among the 5,400 official deaths in Thailand in the disaster.

This tragedy is always in the back of my mind ,I lost 3 Norwegian friends in the tsunami.  They had no chance when the wave hit them. 

 

I hope she find her Thai helpers and can say thank you.

I reread the post and i missed that part, so hereby my apologies.

 

My cynical view plus the opportunists who try to get into the limelight by doing good while just wanting attention for themselves made me believe she was just trying to make money or get more fame. It appears not the be the case as she seems sincere. I wish her all the best!

 

 

Edit: the all-knowing admin seems to have judged my comment was just trolling, meaning i didnt mean it and was just out for reactions. In that case it seems i had great success as many people reacted to my "trolling". Thanks admin for turning this around for me from a loss, where i was clearly in the wrong, to a win where i just wanted reactions *rolleyes*
