Fourteen year old girl raped at knife point on Jomtien beach then given 40 baht

Police in Pattaya are investigating the rape of a 14 year old girl on Jomtien beach last night. 

 

The incident happened in an area where water sports activities are organized and there are five jetskis kept. 

 

It is a well lit area though cops investigating only know that the rapist is a 20 - 25 year old man with facial tattoos who was looking after equipment in the area. 

 

The 14 year old was with friends when the man offered them 500 baht for sex. 

 

They refused but thereafter the man grabbed "Yui" and took her to a tent against her will. 

 

The friends were powerless to intervene because the man had a knife, they said.

 

After she was raped the group went to police. 

 

Sanook reported that a tent had been put away among other equipment when they arrived at the scene. 

 

Pol Capt Weerayut Kangkala investigating was told that the victim was raped without a condom and she was given 40 baht after the encounter. 

 

CCTV is being studied in an effort to find the man responsible.

Why wouldn't the friends run to the police while the rape was taking place? regardless ..those jet ski beach bullies are the lowest life in pattaya

Burmese workers in the area will probably be feeling concerned, because Thai people couldn't possibly do this could they?

I hope they do catch whoever it was quickly, and put him behind bars where he belongs.

And what? a bunch of kids with no one phone between them? no Facebook pictures, Line and what have you? usually these kids cant breath without their mobile phones and now notheing when you need the the most? what a pathetic bunch of good for nothing kids...

Spot on! When I had things stolen on the beach on Phuket years ago, at first all Thais (tourist police, bystanders...) blamed the Cambodian immigrants who were peacefully staying near the beach, minding their own business. The tourist police officers, consequently, walked right to a group of Cambodians, quizzing them... There was no indication, whatsoever, that the perpetrators were Cambodian, but, as it turned out, it was a Thai citizen!

 

Rapes, thefts...; the first thing Thais do, is blaming foreigners, esp. Cambodians and Burmese. ????

Thais love to discriminate as it allows them to feel in some way superior whilst hiding their own inferiority complexes.  Blaming others is a national trait and even when they are obviously in the wrong, or caught in the act itself, they will still try to find fault with the victim or the person accusing them.  This notion of saving face is just a masquerade to avoid responsibility for their own actions.

Possibly, the friends were told she would be harmed if they intervened or called the police.

Does "looking after" equal "hired". I have read on TV that many of these jet skis are owned by police. Is that the case here? Have they talked to owner who probably hired this guy? Importantly, have they taken the tent as evidence? Could be some DNA from semen in there.

I,m with you..more to this case methinks...young guy offers 500 baht and so called refusal,so why when he "snatched" the girl did her friends not alert someone.....or as LennyW states above was rape only cried when 40 baht was given......

All around a sad situation for the youngsters, 

to experience or witness.

Just helps to remind me to keep my kids close by, 

especially late into the evenings hours.

 

 

All those blokes there at the beach know exactly who was the child molester.

It's still rape then. Only not at knife point but through deception. And under the age of consent.

If he didn't use a condom, a rape kit/medical examination would close the case based on DNA evidence.  I mean, they can view the CCTV, if it was working, but the real evidence is the DNA match.

The man had a knife and was threatening a bunch of school girls, and you want to criticize them for not doing what exactly, getting their phone out to film him and in doing so risk their friend or themselves being stabbed, are you always so thoughtless?

You are accusing a 14 year old child of being both a prostitute and a false crier of rape, what a shameful creature you are, lets hope you never have a daughter, or granddaughter who is raped and you have to listen to old men calling her a prostitute.

The girl was promised 500 baht , but only got 40 baht.  They were probably waiting for her to come back with the money . TIT.

The difference between consent and assent is legally (and developmentally) important. Doesn't matter even if she was acting as a sex worker. Minors can assent (as in they have minds of their own, they can initiate, they can say "yes") but they cannot consent (legally agree to engage in sexual acts with an adult). This is because there is a recognition that child and adolescent development means minors are prone to poor judgement and manipulation. Adults are expected to know better regardless of what they may view as evidence of assent. Otherwise, they are rapists. So it doesn't matter.

Zaphod,whilst i agree with you Thai police handling of dna evidence is not very inspiring , ie; Koh Tao.

Rape is horrendous, but the '...then given 40 baht' just made me spray my coffee.
