Thai Rath revisited a sensational murder case that captivated the nation in 2004.

This was a case that was quickly solved by the Thai police within one day.

A black luggage bag with wheels was found in the Krung Kasem canal containing the cut up torso of a woman.  in February of that year. There was no head, legs or arms.

The bag also contained a towel of the nearby Prince Palace Hotel and two bloodstained shower curtains.

Staff there pointed to the strange behavior of an Israeli couple who had checked into stay in room 2701 on the 27th floor on 20th February.

Four days later the man moved to another room but no one saw the woman.

It emerged that Eli Cohen had cut her up in the bathroom of the original room and put all her body parts in three bags and dumped them.

The other two bags were discovered later.

CCTV showed the couple arguing on the way to their room.

Eli Cohen had invited his ex-wife Carol Cohen to Thailand. They had split up over his desire to want to emigrate to Australia.

He was sentenced to life in prison in December 2004. He avoided the death sentence as the judge believed he had not acted with premeditation.

However in November 2012 he was granted a Royal Pardon and subsequently released.

In May of the next year he was reported as having entered Israel en route to another country.

The family of Carol Cohen were furious that he had served what they saw as such a short sentence for the crime, as reported in Israeli news media.
