Bangkok Hotel Recommendation

Featured Replies

Please can someone be kind enough to recommend some hotels in Bangkok as well as some further advise, I have read through lonely planet but none the wiser!

I am looking to spend between 800 and 1000 baht and visit all of the sights worth photographing in the following places as well as some shopping.

1. Ko Ratanakosin District

2. Banglamphu

3. Siam Square

Is Ko Ratanakosin and Banglamphu close enough together that you can stay in one location and easily visit the other?

Can someone also recommend a tall public building that I can go up for photogenic views?

Thanks

Hamish,

TV has a very good hotel listing at the bottom of their home page. http://www.r24.org/phukethotel.com/bangkok/hotels/

They list different areas and prices.

How's life been treating you since the Jonathan? :o

A tall building? Walk in and ask the guard. The hotel bayoke has a restaurant on top. (I think) :D

For a fee, you can go up the Baiyoke Hotel during the day. It's got a revolving platform. Very tall. But the view can be hazy - well, this is Bangkok! Yes, I think it has a bar and restaurant there and if you are going there, then no fee required.

If you ask nicely you may be able to go up Vertigo (Banyan Tree Hotel) or State Tower without forking out for a drink. Nice sunset views. Probably the State Tower has the more impressive view.

siam@siam is a beautiful new place, it's at BTS station National Stadium which is a 1 minute ride to Siam

(edit :mm sorry I didnt see your budget at first reading, sorry, in that same neighborhood is Reno Hotel which is quite nice)
