Benjamin Rujopakarn

BANGKOK, 23rd November 2018 (NNT) - The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is marking International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25th, by organizing a campaign to promote measures that lead to a reduction in domestic violence.

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Chatchai Sarikulya said during a keynote address today, that the 20-year national strategy stipulates a human resources development strategy to strengthen society and promote participation in national development. The Department of Women's Affairs and Family Development has been given the urgent task of protecting and preventing violence against domestic violence by promoting social equality, assisting victims of violence, and strengthening related networks to prevent domestic violence.

Afterwards, Gen Chatchai gave an award to the winner of a drawing competition to illustrate healthy family dynamics, as well as 25 awards to individuals and organizations that have taken a stand against domestic violence.

Chicken or egg?

They could start by cutting out the violence on television pre watershed times, some of the violence shown is just ridiculous.

They would not even be ashamed to celebrate and declare November 25th as the day Thais invented drinking water.

Good start would be speaking out about the incessant violence against women in Thai soaps.

How about teaching people to control their emotions, respecting others plus their decisions and instilling a concept of what's right and wrong in the young or people in general, instead of blaming outside things like alcohol and such like which is a poor excuse for having no-self control. Pfft!
