How To Get Apps and Data To New Phone

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about putting my "OnePlus 2" mobile out to pasture and getting a Samsung or such like.

The question is: how do I get the apps and data from the old phone to the new one?

I've been told that the apps will load automatically once I log in to Google, but what about all their settings/configurations?

And the pictures and videos and other stuff on my phone - about 46 GB. How to get that transferred?

All help gratefully received.

I only needed one program moved from an old phone to a new phone but in my search found a simple app that is put on both phones and then apps can be transferred between them, free at the Google store: Chrome Remote Desktop

I know with certaintity that Google sync will transfer everything, settings and apps (that are compatible) from one Google phone (Nexus 5X to Pixel 1) can't say for sure from One Plus to Samsung.  In any event,  anything that doesn't get transferred can be done via a phone to phone wired connection via copy and paste or the app listed above

I moved lots of stuff from an iPhone to Huawei using Google Drive - basically one click

Data, not apps.  Huawei is Android, iPad is iOS

I have used the CopyMyData app several times successfully in the recent past.  If you knew my level of computer skills then you would be impressed!  Transferred photos, contacts etc very easily.

Duh!!! I know, but the OP wanted to know how to move stuff like photos and a Google Drive can facilitate this.

To do this the lazy way like I did last Saturday, after retiring my old Iphone and getting a Samsung J4+. I purchased my J4 at the Samsung shop and the sales assistance did everything(Gmail,Facebook,Skype,Line etc) for me including transferring all my pictures to his laptop and then downloading onto the J4, all too easy and no extra charges.

For data,  try "Send Anywhere". Does what it says on the box when both devices are on the same wifi connection, and many other options.

I agree with gkroo, when you purchase your new phone the phone store should be happy to transfer all info for free.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I still haven't decided what to get - maybe a OnePlus 6t 256 GB or something more mainstream like a Samsung S9+ - but the price is a bit scary.

For sure it's about time to upgrade from the OnePlus 2, I would think, but I would consider some alternatives to the OnePlus 6T or the Samsung S9+.

To me the Samsung S9+ is an outdated phones and as you say it is fairly expensive.  The issue that I have with the OnePlus 6T is the 67 dB maximum voice audio, which is not very loud compared to most other phones.

Here are the two latest OnePlus models and the Samsung S9+ per gsmarena.

And here are three alternative you might consider; the Meizu 16th (which I own and like), the inexpensive Poco, and the expensive, a bit big and heavy, but nicely spec'd Samsung Note 9.

There are a lot of nice phone models out now, many available at Lazada or at shops, which you can choose from, and I'll add the RealMe 2 Pro (6,550 baht at Lazada) as a nice phone at a very affordable price.
