How will ‘Chindia’ change Phuket’s tourism future?’

What exactly is this Chindia?  In a nutshell it’s a flash drive marketplace with 1/3 of the world’s population – China and India.

For a great number of Phuket hoteliers, the first half of 2018 saw marketplace velocity, where RevPAR’s rose on surging demand, and the most often heard comment was the ignominious ‘same same’. Though room rate growth was not there, volume ruled the day.

Next came, what is referred to on the Mainland as the ‘boat sinking’ and suddenly the monsoon gloom thrust the blazing sun into a dark room, way out back. Chinese numbers sunk, airlift declined and online chatter in China denounced not only Phuket but cast a broader shadow on Brand Thailand.

They're here already.

Airasia was running Chenai flights years back.

And they are awful customers generally.

They call about 'special deals' on somebody elses phone , and want to spend the next 20 minutes modifying the deal till its almost free.

They want to rent things but dont want to pay any deposit on those things.

They stay miles out of town while purporting they are 'staying Centrally' and want free delivery.

When you arrive with the item they are pretentiously "busy" and have left orders that you are to wait.

In general they are very demanding customers , and must be the worlds ultimate tyre kickers when on holidays..

No sympathy. Phuket gets the tourists it deserves......

yes thats for sure

first the europe countries but no no no

second the russians no good so why be nice to them

now same with the chinese

and after the indians

before you could enjoy the island, today if you cruse around with50km/h the taxi and mini vans will hunk you and show you there disapproval of you .

so we,as my family ,goes to pangna where people are more friendly ,but a 3 week tourist does not know that.

its seams like the thais believe as much harassment as more tourist

it always been like that, limit though ,but today its not cheap or limited , 1000 bath fine no licence ,1500 bath tuk tuk to karon ,all the hassle with visa,im not talk 1 year visa but a simple extension. nothing comes with a smile anymore.

price of hotel, price restaurant ,all the tax on alcohol and cigarette, buddha days, time for alcohol sale, allowance of shopping centre only arranged for rip off.

allowance of condo scheme which is a huge rip off.time share ,before it was not too much money ,today different .

the police in general ,its not the money under the table thing, its the size again.

and the cleanliness of the island, wich include few garbage bind .

and the fact, it takes almost nothing to make thais extremely angry ,and thats dosent help either.

nobody can possible know everything they dislike, you have lots off examples from the news, even too many too remember. and it even change from person to person

but since they  dont seam too learn up front they do get the tourist they deserves.
