The Immigration Bureau website has announced the arrest of 27 Palestinians.

Some 22 were rounded up in Lat Prao Soi 144 after raids by immigration and crime suppression police. These comprised 6 men, nine women the rest being small children.

Five more adults described as "mafia figures" were arrested in Soi Nana.

The Palestinians are claiming refugee status but are now in detention in Suan Phlu.

And that shamefully will include the children, locked up in a small cage 24 hours a day. Hell of a welcome to a country. The story doesn't mention any charges or crimes, which concerns me. Has the anti foreigner sentiment gone so far, that people fleeing persecution are now to be arbitrarily jailed, simply for trying to escape danger? Do International treaties on refugee right not exist here? If there is more to the story, it should be announced.

Interesting google translate from the FB Page linked in the OP:

Captured Palestinian 27 escaped into the city. The five leading protest leaders in front of the embassy called on the unhcr . Crime Suppression Center for Information Technology With the Immigration Police They were scattered throughout the room in the 144 Ladprao area, where they found the clues of the Palestinians. The escape into the city to live in Thailand and set up a gang of mafia in Soi Nana.

A search of five rooms in the area found 22 Palestinians living together in a crowded, six male, nine female, and the rest were young. The UNHRC's refugee groups have been detained in front of the embassy. . Previously, immigration police investigated. Five Palestinian leaders were arrested. At Soi Nana after found the behavior of a gang of mafia. In that area.

From now on all Palestinians will be detained. Send to the detention room. Immigration Office Suan Phlu to expand

Where is the UN and UNHCR in all of that? so living in BKK and rounded as mafia is better for them?... coming to countries like Thailand is not a solution....

Asylum seekers and refugees in oz also get locked up behind razor wire on a remote . Why should thailand be any different. If they are smart they will continue the crackdowns and stay in control of their country.. Something many 1st world have failed at and look at the results!

they could just try to behave better

Just because you don't like your own country it does not mean we have to give you everything

I am against helping people in my own country better to help them in the first safe country near where they come from

To meny only come for money in Europe and always complaining and make crimes and that is a fact

If a African boy meet a tiger he run ofcores but stops when he can see tiger gone and safe

Migrants run all the way to money and not just stop where they safe

It is money migration

You are aware that in the original article the men were referred to as mafia figures, detained in sow Nana.

So it would seem somewhat unlikely they are simply refugees fleeing oppression if they are largeing it up in Nana.

Why are you confused?  Of course i don't like or agree with kids being locked up, but, its very clear in its description of the adults.  Do you think immigration refers to any old Tom Dick and Harry as mafia?  And lets make it clear, mafia is often used here as a collective term for undesirables.  I'm sure there's more to this than meets the eye.

Perhaps if they were working ninth better interests or their wives and kids they might have spent less time trawling around red light areas and more time conserving their finances and meeting immigration officials to lobby their case?

It also doest state a different and more likely scenario:

That they came with their families & children knowingly planning to circumvent local laws, overstayed & committed crimes, got busted, and are now claiming asylum as a way to get out of it.

Correct, you claim asylum when you first flee your country to enter another, not enter a country, overstay your visa and commit crimes then plead asylum to try to stay !!

And they get support from the bleeding heart liberals who generally don't have a clue.

The ones i do feel for are the children, and in their respect its just so wrong on all fronts.
