In the UK we have a long-established tradition of brass bands in northern England.

Two of these are called: Black Dyke Band (Black Dyke was originally a cotton mill) and Fairey Band (as in Fairey Aviation, builders of the Fairey Gannet).

A cornet-player pal of mine described a US tour during which militant Christian protesters marched outside concert venues bearing placards decrying black dykes and fairies.

About par for the intelligence level for some protestors. It sounds insulting to "Black Dykes and Faireys" though if they spend a minute or two on research they would see how foolish they really are.
