Yummy Pizza on 25th, 3 separate  sittings over day starting at midday.

B650, last year was top notch as one expects from Toni and his crew.

john

I had Christmas lunch here a couple of years ago and it was a terrible experience. An excessively long wait (1 hour+) for very average food (dry, cold turkey) and vegetables served lukewarm. Endless excuses regarding lack of serving staff and inexperienced kitchen staff I think the price was B550/600 add in the price of a couple of drinks and it was more than B1000 each. I don't really understand why it's double the price of a Sunday lunch (except for the blatant profiteering, like many other restaurants on this day).

Ho, ho ho...

Any Hotels that have a special Christmas day meal?

All of the 4-5 star hotels have both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day offerings with the Eve being the more formal of the two.

What's your budget?

137 Pillars House has a Gala dinner on 24th for 4,900baht++ and Dukes by the river have buffet 25th for 1,500+ so difficult to suggest without knowing what you fancy spending.

Thanks for your response. Sorry been living in the wastelands for too long. It slipped my mind I would have a “CHOICE “. What a concept.

I guess 500  to 2000 B, I'm not a difficult diner.

I’m looking for low key. I’m here alone. The G Friend is at her sisters. Usually I wouldn’t bother. That said. I have reason to celebrate, have a good meal. I am back in CM after a decade in Nakhon Nowhere, have my R extension, condo I like, and going to be traveling  a lot in 2019.

Looking for a nice place to have a meal, and be thankful.

Agreed. Big C always pull out all the stops and offer a very traditional Christmas.

The Jingle bells on a loop makes the Khao man gai look and taste like turkey and all the checkout girls wear Santa hats. Fake Christmas trees and screaming kids give it the authentic feel. Highly recommended.

net = + 10% + 7%?

For hotels yes but some offer discount cards. Four Seasons have one that offers 20% deduction and the Meridien used to have something similar but haven't been there for a year so you'll have to enquire if tempted.

I agree, highly recommended. I thought I was the only person with sense.

And don't forget the beer girls; plus all the miserable old farang who normally hangout there for the free air-con will be at one of the many farang Xmas parties paying 1,000 baht for a poultry meal - lol

We'll have it to ourselves

a shout out for My Kitchen, bistro style in Saraphi, run by French Bruno. Tasty food and amazing value. Check out their facebook for Christmas Menu- at such low prices I suspect it will book out soon as only a small place.  No connection, just a very satisfied customer of their daily specials @ 100baht. Generous portions and do take out too.

If what you've had does not involve smoke, quaalude, amphetamines, or alcohol, I'll have some of that, please.

  • 2 weeks later...

Turns out the Holiday Inn's menu is significantly different than what Chang Puak Magazine listed.

I have never been there before but as it is somewhat nearby, I stopped in yesterday. On the positive side, there were people, like tourists and things, bustling and in these times, let us be thankful. The River Terrace (their 'premier' restaurant) does have outside seating with a nice view over the river. Inside yes getting closer to industrial packing but,  ... .

Moving onward
