PM warned to not engage in political campaigning

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has been warned not to engage in election campaigning even if he is nominated as a candidate for prime minister because in his capacity as a government official he is legally bound to maintain political impartiality.

The warning was made by Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam when asked by reporters  whether the prime minister could engage in electioneering like other politicians in case he is nominated as a candidate for the premiership by the pro-government Palang Pracharat party.

Wissanu explained that since Prime Minister Prayut is a government official he is required by law to be politically neutral.

Spilt my tea on reading the headline alone.

No worries, he can continue to not campaign as he has for months.

A T.V. appearance at prime time every Friday airing his personal and party (military) views and he is described as neutral. That's some stretch of the imagination. Most parties would pay a fortune for that amount of promotional propaganda.

Anything that turncoat Wissanu says can be immediately accepted as being illusionary and specious.

So roaming the countryside and throwing other people's money around by the truckload is OK because that's only buying populism for the junta which is completely different to electioneering.

The Deputy PM warning the the supremo himself? He is risking a punch in the face.

Too late.  There are and were posters of him all over Thailand for years.  He knows not what the word impartial means.  His drone television show is not campaigning ?  This warning is four years over due.

To Prayut's and Prawatch's assistance - there is always article 44 you can pull!

Ah but there you have it. If the PM is "neutral" in politics, and not therefore favoring any particular political party, then there is no reason why he cannot be appointed and act as a neutral to all parties.

Cleverly cunning.

Why would he need to engage in political campaigning as he use the mobile cabinets, and other options paid by the Thai taxpayer, to achieve the same and more.

Well, someone's pulling something.

But giving away year end and New Years "gifts" to the public is perfectly OK.  Not corruption.  Not "vote buying".  Just "presents".  Happiness to the people (especially those in charge).

Nonsense.

His ego won't allow him to accept defeat so he needs an excuse for when the inevitable happens and he gets smashed in his own rigged election.

So does that mean he has to stop?

Ah, how the tables have turned! But...the man has been "not campaigning" all through the recent months that he has been campaigning.

Does this mean there will be a trough position opening up soon?
