11 overseas influencers to put Phang Nga on surf map

Featured Replies

Thailand's Tourism Authority (TAT) has brought 11 influencers and content creators from the UK, Australia and Japan to Phang Nga for its Amazing Thailand Surf & Wellness Journey.

The visit is intended to generate international content promoting Phang Nga's beaches, nature, food, community life and health-focused tourism experiences. TAT wants to position the southern province as an emerging Asian destination for surf and wellness travel.

For foreign residents and visitors, the campaign highlights a growing range of activity-based and wellbeing options beyond Phang Nga's established beach holidays, particularly around Khao Lak and Takua Pa.

Surf, nature and wellbeing experiences

Uthit Limsakul, director of the TAT Phang Nga Office, welcomed the group and presented the province's tourism products and services. He pointed to Phang Nga's surf-suitable beaches, intact natural surroundings and health and wellness services as strengths that match modern travel trends.

The creators took part in Surf Therapy, a concept combining surfing with physical and mental wellbeing. Their programme also included a visit to The Board Factory, a surfboard manufacturing facility.

Other activities included the Devasom Aqua Bath wellness experience at Devasom Khao Lak, a wellness and cooking class at La Vita Sana Khaolak, and Forest Bathing at Ton Chong Fa Waterfall.

The visitors also went kayaking through the ecosystem at Khlong Sang Neh, known as Little Amazon, and visited Takua Pa Old Town to learn about the province's culture, local way of life and identity.

Tourism businesses meet overseas creators

TAT also arranged The Wave of Healing Networking Dinner at La Solaya Khao Lak, bringing together Phang Nga tourism businesses, the influencer group and relevant sectors.

The event was designed to encourage discussion on marketing and the development of surf and wellness products and services. Prin Pongcharoen, director of the International Public Relations Division, presented the campaign concept, "Healing is the New Luxury".

The initiative forms part of TAT's effort to expand its quality-tourism market, using overseas creators to present Thailand's tourism potential to international audiences.

Yeah, no surfer has probably ever heard of Phuket before and probably pronounces the pH like an F.

Exactly the kind of tourists Thailand needs.

Empty heads, surf's up dude 😄

Is there actually any surfing there? Perhaps only in the monsoon season when the winds are stronger?

And in a few months we all can read that people are complaining about the many tourists... One side wants tourists, other side want to get rid of them.

Many are too young to recall how life was a lot tougher and poorer for Thais back before tourism too a hold.

Hope now some will understand how 97% of scientist agree with who ever is funding their research.

Do you think any will post negative thoughts, and ruin their chance of returning to experience other areas of Thailand. I think not.

The 'Surfing Hub of Thailand' ... now Phang Nga instead of Phuket.

Yes there is, around Khao Lak, but the surf beaches there are nothing like the surf beaches in places like Bali, Australia, Hawaii, etc. The surf is shallow in comparison. It does get up a bit in the monsoon season but then you have to contend with rip currents and jellyfish as well. So it's never going to be a world class surfing destination.

What’s Phuket got to do with a story about Phangnga?

Quite a lot. Because Phuket is so overcrowded The Thai Tourism authority is pushing Phang Nga as an alternative.

A post with a derogatory trolling comment toward Phuket has been removed:

14. You will not post slurs, degrading, or overly negative comments directed towards Thailand, Thai people, Thai culture,Religion, Thai institutions such as the military, judicial or law enforcement system, or specific locations within Thailand.

Please tell me that the 450 baht that Thailand plans to collect from every foreigner that they say is for insurance and developing tourism is not going to go towards paying for free trip for "influences."

OK . The 450 baht that Thailand plans to collect from every foreigner that they say is for insurance and developing tourism is not going to go towards paying for free trip for "influences."

Is there anything else ?

Oh god not more British influencers.

Insuffarable.

Throw in the obligatory :

1) Oh my god Thailand is so cheap. You can live for a dollar a day.

2) Oh my god Thailand condos are so amazing and luxury, and you can live in them for a dollar day. Look at all these facilities in the common area. Note - never film your cardbox tiny room.

3) Oh my god oh my god. Just keep intertwining between 1 and 2.

4) Mention crime in London. Even though Thailand doesn't exactly have a low crime rate.

5) Push more of the cheapness nonsense.

6) Eat raw pork in dishwasher water and make a face like you just had an orgasm.

7) If only the follow you you can tell them how to become digital nomads by selling erm stuff, etc but you have to buy the course first, etc

8) Mention it's cheap.

The sooner Dubai gets back to normal the sooner they can go back there.
