Voa And Do 10 Borders Runs To Stay 11 Months?

Featured Replies

Is it still possible to do alot of visa runs? Im getting confused by the new rules...

Im just going there for a long vacation.

Im leaving in 11 days, so if there is something I need to do (getting a double entry visa?) I guess im in a hurry.

Thanks a bunch.

Get the best visa you can before you leave (probably 60 days

extendable by 30 more in-country).

You cannot do visa runs for 11 months any more (speaking as

someone who did it in the past).

It will become clearer in coming months how the rules are applied

re tourist visas and visa runs.

Good luck

Thanks man..

Damnit, the 60+60 visa application needed to be sent in 3 weeks in advance. I think I need to go for the single entry visa, that should only take a week.

What are my chances of getting my touristvisa renewed somewhere a few times during my stay?

Yes. With every visa run, i.e. every time you travel outside Thailand to get a new tourist visa from a Thai consulate, you can, with extensions, stay 90 days in Thailand. 11 visa runs therefore give you 11x90=990 days in Thailand, plus the VOA (visa on arrival) of your first entry, which gives you 15 days.

Enjoy your holiday in Thailand!

If you are in your home country your best bet would be to get a triple entry tourist visa which with extensions will give you 9 months in Thailand with a couple of border runs.

If you can only get a single entry then you can extend that in country which will give you 90 days in total. You should be able to get another tourist visa from an embassy/consulate in a neighbouring country but that is likely to only be a single entry so another 90 days.

You can enter on visa free entry stamps (as many as you wish) (if you hold a passport from a country that is given visa free entry) but the time in Thailand must not exceed 90 days in any 180 day period and the time spent on a tourist visa shouldn't count towards the 90days (unless you get an immigration officer with a sore head!).

So you should be able to work out what you need.

Uhm, ive run into some problems allready. It seems like there´s not enough time for me to get any visa at all here at home.

I will arrive in thailand and only get my 30 day VOA. Will that make any diffrence when im going to a nearby country and getting a touristvisa? Should I be able to get countless of new touristvisas during my stay if im not very unlucky?

Sorry for the stupid questions that probably been answered 100 times before in other scenarios, but im getting freaked out and feel like I need to be 100% postive this will work out. Would suck to go home after 30 days when ur planing to stay almost a year :o

If the airline lets you check in without a visa in your passport and without a confirmed onward flight within 30 days, you have no problem.

Having a visa-exempt entry stamp in your passport will not make it more difficult for you later to get a tourist visa from a Thai consulate.

You can get one tourist visa after another but some consulates, e.g. Singapore, may at some point tell you not to go back there for another one. Then simply go to other places, but avoid Manila, Phnom Pen and Rangoon (Yangon).

I would advise you to either cancel your trip or risk not being allowed to board the airplane. Many airlines will not allow you to board unless you have a valid flight ticket out of Thailand within 30 days (or a valid visa). Call your airline and check.

Was this trip a last minute decision or did you not consider the visa situation before now?

If you had let us know what nationality you are, you may have received more relevant advice. You are obviously not British, or you would be able to get a visa in a few days with no problem.

Jckei, from your absolute barbaric use of the English language and your savage refusal to employ any polite forms of address my best guess is that your a fellow American citizen? If that is indeed the case "welcome bro". You would be doing yourself a huge favor if you were able to obtain at least a single entry tourist visa beforehand. Believe me, you will be patting yourself on the back later on for being such a prepared traveller. Since these Oct 1st changes it's hard for anyone to give you assurances. Take care of it the best you can.
