NamKangMan
Before smart phones, social media, and instant message apps, authorities here could get away with releasing false information in the media, to temp tourists back. People would believe "Beach back to normal" or similar, in the past, so the authorities continued lying to the public on a range of things. They can't get away with that now. They have to actually fix the issue, which we all know costs money, or upsets people, so the issue doesn't get fixed. Thus, photos, messages, posts, videos etc, in real time, tell the real story to the world, which is now having the effect of people making informed decisions about whether to holiday on Phuket, or detour Phuket.
