Popular Post webfact
Deputy national police chief orders crime crackdown at New Year Deputy National Police Chief Pol Gen Chalermkiat Srivorakan had a video conference with his top commanders yesterday to call on police nationwide to crack down on crime at New Year. All stations nationwide were ordered to be on high alert watching out for lawbreaking when it comes to general crime, weapons and drugs. Checkpoints were ordered to be set up to stop people on previously issued warrants. The deputy chief is concerned that criminal elements will act in an opportunistic manner in the period from December 24th to January 2nd. Local top brass was ordered to check on the efficacy of checkpoints under their command to ensure they were working smoothly. Chalermkiat also commented on preparations in Bangkok for New Year saying that these would center on Central World, Asiatique, Khao San Road and Icon Siam. He called for special command centers be set up in those areas to cater to the needs of revelers and tourists on New Year's Eve. Eric Loh
Just the usual routine yearly proclamation like the no accident fatalities that are spouted at year end. Nothing to get excited. Business as usual.
