Industry Minister Uttama Savanayana waves a flag of Palang Pracharat Party on Sep. 29, 2018.

BANGKOK — A party linked to the ruling regime expects a star-studded Wednesday gala dinner to raise at least 600 million baht for its election campaign.

Each of the 200 banquet tables at the event, called “One, United Thailand,” costs 3 million baht. Planned for a hall in the Muang Thong Thani complex, the gala will also feature a concert by star musicians such as Koh Mr. Saxman, Tata Young, John Nuvo and Rang Rockestra to serenade VIP supporters of the Palang Pracharat Party.

Provided all tables are sold, this could be a great opportunity to address a large proportion of Thailand's problems in one gigantic explosion honest announcement of sensible party policies.

All tables have already been booked. I want to know who is paying for them. Information that is unlikely to be released as the sponsors would not like their identities being made public in case everything goes tits up in the next election and this party is left out of the government.

Wasn't I reading the other day that there was a cap on campaign spending? I'm pretty sure it was a lot less than 600 million baht per political party ...

Must be some strongly worded invitation cards probably with a skull and cross letter head.

Fundraising: I heard there is a raffle. The first ten prizes are Rolex watches of unknown provenance.

I am sure those attending and paying so much for the privilege, see this as

an investment and are going to be looking for returns if the Palang Pracharat Party

wins the election, big money politics which will not be good for the people of

Thailand,but for the few.

Sucking up is a way of life within some circles.

Indeed. I'm a big fan of paying a price which reflects the product's real worth.

there's 15 baht down the back of my sofa, where should I send it?

Recalling I thought that the new Election Laws do not allow the use of celebrities in such political events.

If the members want to sing serenade VIP supporters of the Palang Pracharat Party - fine

Guess we will see what the really rich people of Thailand, who may be also

related to the present PM are.. I wish I was there to film the arrival of people ,who

are attending this gathering.

Geezer

Shutup Thaugsban raised 200 million at his parties bash they said .. Not in 10 bt coins then to count it up that quickly .. And 3 mil a trough sorry table at last night's bash kinda hints at the calibre of porkers who availed thereselves of it ..

I'll buy one table in exchange for 2 free Thai Elite Visas + VIP fast track, valid 30 years and with a special Regimental Decree, that does not require my 90 day reporting or a re-entry permit. And if they could throw in 2 life long passes for the BTS, I may also leave a tip after dinner.

Sure they will raise 6 Rolex watches 5 gold rings 4 submarines 3 more elections 2 billion tourists and a return of all fugitives????
