800K in Krung Thai Bank

Featured Replies

I have always used the income affidavit letter for proof of my monthly income of at least 65K baht. But, because of recent events and the fact, I don't want to try and second guess what Thai immigration is going to do. I am going to do the 800K deposit into a Thai bank account. I currently have a joint account with Bangkok Bank and an account in my name only in Krung Thai Bank. I know I cannot use the joint account at Bangkok Bank. My question is, do any of you use Krung Thai Bank for the purpose of holding your 800K for extension purposes. I live in Roi Et province but not in the city itself. Mostly a bunch of farmers where I live.  Does Krung Thai Bank know what letter I need for immigration? Or, would I be better off getting an account at Bangkok Bank in my name only? I know I can go to the bank and ask. But, I am trying to not embarrass any of the girls there if they don't know what I am talking about. As I said, this is farm country and not a lot of Farangs here.

The larger branches will almost certainly know what's required, but branches in the smaller towns may not, and might even refuse to issue a letter. That applies to all the banks.

You can obtain the letter for Immigration at any branch of KTB, so if you have a problem with your local branch, obtain it from a city branch on your way to Immigration. You can update your passbook and obtain the letter at the same time.

It usually takes 10-20 minutes max.

For your information, plse note that the proper name of this bank-document is (reservation for spelling);  "LAP LONG JOF BAN CHI"

I'm apparently the only one at my bank (rural area, almost no other farangs) getting this letter and I have to explain to them each year what I need. To simplify matters I keep a copy of the prior year's letter, which makes it easy for them.

I can get "LAP LONG" รับรอง 'to certify'.

I can get "BAN CHI" บัญชี 'account'

I have no idea what Thai word JOF represents. Could it possibly be "YOT" ยอด 'balance'?

Thank you, sounds like a plan.

Briggsy, talked to wifey here now again, it seems that I since 2010 have used one word too much..... She said to me LAP LONG BAN CHI....

Thank you for pointing it out..

I have just spoken to my wife who says that it should be JOT MAAI LAP LONG BAN CHI ("JOT MAAI" จดหมาย = "letter")

@Longcut - post #2 in the following 2016 thread includes an example of a bank letter. Although, ironically in your case, it is a Bangkok Bank one, I would imagine that the Krung Thai version would be pretty much the same.

Have you visited your Krungthai branch lately?

They are burdened with some state official tasks paying to public servants and handouts to the poor, old agers minimum pension etc.pp.

On Friday 21 Dec a new wave of Prayut goodies (some change) will be paid. I expect the worst.

The other bank crowded with such tasks is BAAC which is mostly unknown/irrelevant to foreigners.

Almost always when I pass at Krungthai there they are crowded like mad.

Wouldn't want to have to do business with them.

I would try with Bangkok Bank.

I had also posted a copy of a Bangkok Bank letter.

The wording is different and shown in this post:
