This is Chiang Mai, everything closes by midnight.

 

Usually at the Tapae Gate, loads of backpackers launch balloons at midnight, then they all drift off as all the lights go out and shutters come down at the bars around them.  A few bars remain open but reserved for select customers only.

Yeah you would think more going on by the    Tourism authority here. I normally don’t go out New Years here. Just thought maybe this year.
