Villagers in Yasothon in Thailand's north-east scrambled for lottery tickets after a two headed calf was born.

Lottery ticket sellers rushed to the scene as locals in the village of Ban Don Muang gave offerings and lit candles and incense to ask for the all important numbers that would make them rich.

Owner of the calf, fifty seven year old cattle farmer Bunlorm said that the 30 kilogram female animal was born to a 15 year old Brahman cow mother, her seventh birth.

The two-headed creature survived for just ten minutes then died. It was the first time in decades of her and her children rearing animals that she had seen such an animal, reported Sanook.

Bunlorm is donating the two-headed calf to a local temple.

Thaivisa notes that the last case of a two-headed calf born in Thailand ended up stuffed in a glass case for posterity. Such creatures can be temple money-spinners in sales of lotus, incense and candles as the superstitious pray and ask for lottery numbers.
