Voters check their registrations in June 2011.

BANGKOK — Thailand is set to vote March 24 on its future government, but the results may not be finalized until early May, according to a timeline laid down by the organizers of the election.

The Election Commission has until May 9 to verify the results and settle any misconduct complaints filed against party candidates. Only after the results are verified can the new government be formed and premier appointed.

My goodness, how exciting and how suspenseful...wonder who will 'verify' the results and be 'appointed' premier.

How diplomatic of you, asking that rhetorical question!

There are the key words: settle any complaints filed against part candidates. So predictable. Will anyone be left?

Looking forward to treason charges being laid against the junta on May 10.

Initiated by the new PM Prayuth against the old self appointed Prayuth.

Given all the delays, would not get my hopes up

I suspect that the government already have a reason to delay them already and this is all just show, Expect a new bombing spree, unrest, too much political in fighting when they can promote their parties, or a death of significabt importance that will delay it whilst they prepare for a burial.

Either that or they already have the printed ballot papers with the X's already in them

Actually - no.

Prayut will still hold constitutional absolute power and must be the one to recommend the new government for endorsement before it is officially "installed."

And if the House fails a majority vote for the PM, the pro-military Senate will also join the vote.

It's like Al Capone telling the public he is not a gangster. This election is just a farce Nothing will change and the Pm here now will still be Pm after May 10th.

Good ol Pinocchio pulling every trick in the book to hold onto power so he can get his photo opportunity with the new King, what a tosser!!!!!!!!!!!!!

given thailand's general level of competence, my bet is that there will be sufficient screwups along the way to nullify a result and we will carry on as is

I'm in hope, as I'm sure most readers are, a fair and Democratic election is held asap so that Thais can move ahead without fear. Thailand has much to offer, if only allowed to progress.
