Freida Pinto: ‘I wouldn’t work with Woody Allen again’

by Simon Hattenstone

Freida Pinto’s role in her new film Love Sonia is shocking.

She plays a desperate sex worker in a brutal tale of trafficking.

Rashmi is complex, edgy and selfish – everything you wouldn’t expect of a Pinto character.

After all, the Indian actor, who made her name in Danny Boyle’s phenomenally successful Slumdog Millionaire, has spent much of her career playing eye candy. And she is sick of it.

That's a pretty natural time for them to complain. After they are rich they don't need these powerful men anymore who can make or break your career. When they are their way up, they mostly have to keep their mouth shut to keep getting jobs.

I don't know or not sure about keeping the mouth shut....would go for the wide open legs and mouth

This caught my attention in respect of not working with Woody Allen. It is not that uncommon an attitude

“No. Absolutely not. I wouldn’t work with him because I’m in solidarity with women who have come out with their stories, whether they are proven or not. I’m just going to stick to what my gut instinct tells me."

In other words, 'solidarity' with the sisterhood has a higher priority than determining what the truth might be. Gut instinct prevails over evidence.

O tempora o mores

The day she doesn't dress to the nines when goes out to an awards show I'll believe her. Until then she is complaining that people look at her as eye candy; well ok, now I"ll look at her as a whiner that only wants to be seen  with other eye candy (male and female).
