dependent visa

Featured Replies

Hi i am here on a retirement visa/extension, can i get my boy a dependents visa, if so can you give me some advice    Thanks

As long as he is not over 20 years old he can get an extension of stay based upon being a member of your family.

He will first need a single entry non-o visa to apply for the extension.

Thanks Joe, can i get this non-o visa here, or do i have to leave the country

The non-o visa will need to be applied for at a nearby embassy or consulate. Immigration will not issue one for family members of those on retirement extensions.

If my daughter and wife are already on non-O extensions (Ed and Dependent) can they piggy-back my (already existing) Retirement extension without getting new non-Os?

Yes they could. But some offices might not want to change you daughters extensions to one for being a member of your family.

So could the daughter stay on the Ed extension (which requires no proof of funds) without a Dependent?

And then the wife can piggy-back my retirement extension and not have to bother with the 500k in the bank?

Yes she could. Your wife has been getting the extension based upon being her parent not her dependent.

Sorry yes, I meant guardian.

Is it possible for a spouse and a small child to both stay on a dependent visa under 1 ED visa of one of the adults? So effectively can a family of three (all 3 being foreigners) stay in Thailand with 1 ED visa and 2 dependent visas?

Is there a limit to the amount of children who can stay on a dependent visa?

There is no limit on the number of family members that can be based upon on an extension of stay for attending school (not a visa).
