Agreed.  It's obvious.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is either hopelessly naive or pushing an agenda.

Providing security will be a formidible operation at the event itself, not to mention screening the incoming multitudes at Ben Gurion Airport. Will an entrance requirement be a sworn statement that the visitor doesn't support BDS?

The Likud government wants to show the world that their society is "normal" by hosting this glitzy extravaganza.

A better way of doing that would be to live within their 1967 borders and stop building illegal settlements on stolen land.

The old Zionist dream of Eretz Israel is as dead as a doornail.

Couldnt we just have a song contest with getting Political ?

Eurovision songs aren't supposed to have political content, but sometimes political content is slipped in. Such as the recent Ukraine winner which made Russia very angry.

Boo.

Hoo.

Speaking of "normal" countries. Azerbaijan won and then hosted. Do you think Azerbaijan is a "normal" country?

Nobody is saying that Israel is a perfect country or that the Palestinians don't have legitimate grievances.

But this is about Eurovision. Israel won. They get to host. End of. If Eurovision wasn't going to honor their own rules towards any nation in the competition, including Israel, they should make that clear going in.

I think in the case of Australia they've already been told if they win, they won't host because of geographical/time zone issues, not politics.

you ever heard about ABBA?

Give me a break, that was 40 years ago. In any event, even at that time, ABBA were a uniquely, talented aberration from the norm, the rest of it was still crap.

This is true. Nobody as big as Abba from Eurovision and probably never will be.

But Dana International isn't chopped liver.

It's the only reason to watch it. The songs are dire but the voting is fascinating. All those old political allegiances are demonstrated in sharp focus.

The bearded lady (Conchita Wurst) was my favourite winner. Comedy gold.

So you're not pushing an agenda?

To BDS people, Zionism is a dirty word. Too bad. Israel ain't going anywhere. Here's a "woke" rebuttal to all the BDS poppycock --

To most people in the world, Zionism is a dirty word. The only place that it should be going is returned to the Palestinians.

However, I strongly object to the greatest comedy show on Earth being politicised.
