Iranian family touring Thailand - stealing as they go

Police in Southern Thailand have made an arrest of four Iranians who were touring around Thailand stealing from shops.

The thieves included a father and daughter who did the thefts, and friends who were the driver and lookout man.

They had rented a Toyota Vios in Pattaya on January 23rd to conduct their Thailand theft spree.

Donsak, Surat Thani, police announced the arrest of father and daughter Valiollah Safi Pouri, 55, and Roya Safi Pouri, 31, along with fellow Iranian friends Hamid Amiri, 55, and Ali Dasdar, 22.

They all deny it but the police say they have plenty of evidence.

In the latest incident on Sunday the father and daughter went into the Donsak Suksaphan shop where they stole 2,500 baht from the purse of owner Chaluay Donphot, 64, while she was distracted.

Chaluay ran after them and managed to grab back 500 baht. The gang then made off towards Nakorn Sri Thammarat with police in chase.

Sichon police managed to set up a roadblock and the gang were all arrested.

They had been responsible for a 20,000 baht theft in Jandee district of Nakorn Sri Thammarat and stole an iron in Ban Nasan district of Surat Thani.

They have all been charged with snatch theft and theft using a conveyance and are in the custody of Donsak police.

  • Yes, they're Shiite, in Iran.   Auto Spellcheck kept changing the spelling of "Shiite". Should have left it as it was, Spellcheck knows best.

  • Looking at the photo above, appears the cop arguing with the woman wants to draw his gun and shoot her, shut her up.

It's only jealously - someone muscling in on their turf. We all know it's the police's job to steal from the public, using many and various creative means.

What language do they use to communicate? They seem to have some sort of discussion on that picture....

Farsi (Persian) although the professional thieves use Cockney Rhyming Slang.

Would never see such a headline in the Thai media about the crime their Chinese Overlords get up to. The Chinese would slap them immediately, and they know it.

Spry old bird, no?

Of all the places in the world to go on a thieving spree. Maybe they read too much TV forum and thought Thailand was paved with gold?

I thought you usually had to give something up to get the gold in Thailand?

You're getting yourself in a right two and right over this, or are you just Brahms and Liszt?

The grasshopper looks pretty cross with the Lemon Curd to me and probably wants to put them in the Bucket and Pail rather than send them back out on the frog and toad

Love.

In Thailand, the language of the best thieves is the language of love. Just ask the  sorry saps who fall for a bar girl/boy.

With all due respect avin a "giraffe" is far too obvious and is not London rhyming slang, it's always two words then they would use the word that does'nt rhyme such as "Butchers Hook" ie take a butchers (look) at this, "Barnet Fair" Barnet (hair) etc. avin a laugh is Bubble as in Bubble bath, Thief as in this case is a "Tea Leaf" or"a Tea" all learned from my old East End mum years ago!

OK Lesson over as you were!

From my understanding many Iranians speak Ok to excellent English.

Seems the policeman and Iranian woman are quarreling. I wonder in what language they were throwing insults at each other. Maybe they drew some inspiration from Mel Brooks' 1995 vampire spoof, "Dracula, Dead and Loving It".

I think that she's asking if she can have the map with the little cars on it. The cop is saying, "No, it's my favourite toy, so don't try nicking it!"

That cannot be true because one of the policemen has a lot of the gold on two of his fingers.
