Thai hospital security guard steals dying taxi driver's wallet - police let him go and the hospital does nothing

A distraught daughter has gone to the media for help after her father was robbed by a hospital security guard and left for dead in the car park. Her father appeared to have had a heart attack. 

 

The police are said to have let the thief go and the hospital - who promised help - have done nothing except send a wreath to the funeral. 

 

Anucha Changsri, 25, was speaking to Manager on Monday after her father Chayakorn Changsri, 49, a taxi driver, died in the car park of Nong Khae Hospital in Saraburi. 

 

Chaiyakorn, originally from Uttaradit had been suffering from a heart condition.

 

Anucha said he had gone out in his taxi as normal from his home in Kumhak sub-district, Nong Khae, last Wednesday morning. 

 

But as he was driving his taxi he suffered severe chest pains and drove himself to Nong Khae Hospital. As he was exiting his cab in a section of the car park he fell onto a metal spike protruding from a lump of concrete. 

 

By this time he was now still and it appeared he had suffered a heart attack.

A change of the security guard shift later found him dead and the police were called. 

 

CCTV was examined and it clearly showed her father pass out and fall. A security guard passed by and offered no help. 

 

Instead he walked round the taxi twice before stealing her father's wallet. She thought it probably contained 10,000 baht as she knew he was on his way to pay an installment for a car later that day. 

 

Following the theft of the wallet the security guard strolled off back to the booth as if nothing had happened. 

 

Anucha said that she pressed charges against the guard with police but they let him go. When they later went to arrest him at his lodgings behind the hospital he had fled.

 

She said that she believed that the security guard had been dismissed by the hospital on Thursday the day after the incident.

 

The hospital director promised the family help in any way they could.

 

But it was just empty words, said the grieving daughter.

 

No representative of the hospital came to the funeral - they just sent a wreath. 

 

Now she wants justice for her father. 

 

Thaivisa notes that so far the CCTV footage appears not to be in the public domain.

This is a Buddhist principle called compassion. Many Westerners will not have this quality.

or is it the belief that he will get his own karma in return so no need to chase him down too much?  I don't know but the true outrage here is how he was so callous and walked around the body.

Police did nothing because it is a common occurrence, after a person falls ill, or has had an accident.

In my case it was a policeman who took/ emptied my wallet, then had the nerve to hand my empty wallet to my wife.

Awful, but not an isolated incident. A friend of mine died last year and the ambulance drivers who came to pick him up, stole his wallet. Nothing is sacred in LOS where money is concerned I am afraid.

This story just about sums up the way Thai police and other government departments work.

We don't give a stuff about anyone.

A sad fact

RIP Mr Chayakorn Changsri and my condolences to his family, relatives and friends.

Even after driving himself up to the car park and fall on to a metal spike is really bad luck, indeed.

Some comments above are done with an attitude worse than the unsympathetic rogue security guard who stole the poor mans wallet. Proves beyond doubt that North, East, West or South, the scum exists.

Yeah, scum to be sure. I despise the lowlifes that do this sort of thing but the lack of punishment from authorities sickens me just as much. Weak <deleted>

Sad commentary once again about the attitude many Thais have it comes to getting money no matter the means.

Stealing from a dead/ dying person,is about as low as you can get,

then offering no assistance just shows you this guy has no moral

compass,he needs to go to jail,maybe that it's been brought into the

open the police will spring into action.....i know,i know,

Just shows that Thais get screwed over by criminal Thais and uncaring big companies (hospital) too. So next time a foreigner get screwed it might not be because he is a foreigner but just because some criminal saw an opportunity. 

 

The security guard is the lowest of the low stealing from dying people. The police as usual not acting fast.

Spikes sticking out of concrete in the hospital car park....

 

Robbed by the security guard while you lay dying in said car park....

 

All caught on CCTV and the hospital and police do nothing....

 

Wonderful place. Even better people.

 

You can’t just blame the guard here because the hospital staff and the police are equally at fault. Thainess at its best. At least they didn’t blame the fallen driver for tempting the guard.

Only foreigners scam and steal from Thais. Thus the guard was clearly not Thai.

And why was there a steel pin sticking out of the concrete floor at the hospital mr hospital director??? Were you searching for new customers to milk?

The only supposedly Buddhist quality shown here is theft and utter lack of compassion-the Thai are Animists..only 'sicklied over with the pale hue' of Buddhism

We should be reading tomorrow about a security guard finding a wallet in a taxi containing 100.000  B and hands in in to a hospital !  Come on TAT , keep up.
