Liam Neeson, 66, revealed how he sought revenge after a close friend told him she had been raped.

The Taken actor said he took to the streets with a weapon as he tried to hunt down the culprit.

He now admits he is “ashamed” of his past but the revelation has sparked a backlash online.

And many have asked - what is a cosh?

I always thought cosh was a hyperbolic cosine, equivalent to (exp(x) + exp(-x) )/2

Which begs the question...why is Liam Neeson using a conic section to hunt someone down? Are they stuck somewhere in an Anti De Sitter space?

Let me guess...........it's white people outraged on behalf of black people.

Why can you say white people and black people, but, you can't say white barsteward and black barsteward?

I would say that revenge would be a totally natural response after a friend had been attacked, and a cosh is something that you hit someone over the head with, usually a softer but heavier version of a truncheon, and often filled with lead shot.

In the US it's referred to as a "black-jack".

A soft version of a cosh filled with lead shot is called a sap.

A truncheon is a type of cosh.

Sorry don't mean to be pedantic.

Liam Neeson's predicament appears to be either an over embellishment or downright porkie that was supposed to put bums on chairs at the cinema but has backfired. A decent scriptwriter should find a way out without too much damage.
