Hi,

I'm going Penang for a new visa, and I'm looking for an hotel with in-room wifi internet access.

So far the only one I've found which explicitly advertise such a service is the Banana New Guest House but I'm not sure it's comfortable enough (guest houses were my accomodation of choice 10 years ago, not anymore), and it doesn't seem to have a swimming pool.

The Bayview advertise 2MB high-speed broadband, but not sure if it's in-room, or their internet café. And their website has nothing about room rates .

The Continental seems to be the hotel the most often recommended here, but they haven't answered my email yet. Maybe someone can tell me more about it having wifi?

Continental doesn't have internet access in the hotel, neither wireless. But there's an internet cafe in the street right behind it that has open until midnight, i believe. Been there 2 years before and last year and was always good. I think only the first class hotels on the coast may have internet or wireless..

Just off Chulalia street, there are a couple large business class hotels. I beleive one is called the Malaysia Hotel and maybe the other the Contental. Anyways, they both have in-room wireless networks. Speeds are quite slow but you are connected most of the time. Cost is something like $3-4 per 24 hour period. Rooms here are about $30 per nite.

Continental has WiFi access:

- 1 Hour : 6 RM

- 24 Hours: 15 RM

Hotel Mingood has free wifi in the rooms. Stayed there a few weeks back and connection was reliable.

No swimming pool. Has air-con, hot water and bath...

70 RM a night...

I am confirming those prices from my Continental room. Quality is not great, but ok.

I stayed at the Hotel Mingood before and recommend it and it's wifi access.

Online rates are a lot higher, so does anybody know if the walk in rate is still 70RM ?!
