Daughter wants to visit Thailand for 12 months

Featured Replies

When my daughter completes her university studies she would like to take a year out and stay in Thailand.

She has suffered with a couple of health issues and the Thai climate seems to suit her very well.

I am not aware of any visa that would cover such a sabbatical........................ anybody have any suggestions for how she might manage such a stay.

Thanks

One possibility...is she eligible for an METV?

If she is, and she times her last visa run correctly, she can stay for 8 months, theoretically 9 by extending.

After her first METV is expired, she has to go back to her home country and get another METV for another 6-8 months.

The minimum cost would be that extra round trip ticket originating from BKK and the cost of 2 METVs.

Or go to a nearby embassy or consulate to get a single entry tourist visa that allow another 90 days of total stay.

If you are here on a extension of stay it might be possible for her to get a multiple entry non-o visa. There are a few embassies and consulate that will issue one to visit family.

If not the a multiple entry tourist visa would be next best option.
