Good Hairdresser In Phuket

Recommended Posts

I need your help. I've been living in Phuket for a couple of months now and I've been to a "nice" salon near me in Cherngtalay. The cut isn't good. My hair has no shape and it just falls flat. I have short hair with layers and I need a good cut. I can see uneven lines and it just doesn't so anything. I also need colour. Can anyone reccommend a good salon in the northern part of Phuket (preferably). If this would do better in the Ladies' section, please feel free to move it.

Thanks for your help.

Thai hair 'salons' are rather comical.

in the US a hair person needs a 'permit / license' documenting some training.

In thailand the only requirement seems to be the resources to pay a shop que fee.

the shops are by que & rotation.

I'm 75% grey haired (former red-ish brown hair) fellow & after a few beers one evening I decided to get my hair died ..

came out ORANGE .. the girl was very nice ..

her boss stepped in to make all right .. & I left with 'Thai black' hair.

:D I must admit I had 'a non-smile attitude' when I left after the 2 die jobs & now cold black hair .. :D

but they were so nice .. & smiling ..

I came back several hours later with pineapple & watermelon for all

& we smiled together.

:o

good luck.

perhaps a western hotel salon

or ask for the shop owner

?? ..

There are a few in Central, I've checked them out. There's the really expensive one owned by the guy that lived in London for several years. I went there once and I was happy, but the price is $$$$$$$$. Then, down the hall from them is a Toni and Guy. Are they any good? Then there's another one near Watson's that has cuts for 300. Which one is decent?

The one by Watsons is fine. You can pay a lot for a senior stylist or 300 for an intermadiate one. I have used them as have some friends, we paid TB300 and have been more than happy. Give them a go.

Lost the telephone number but Try Tik and Toe Hair Salon at the bottom of Kaow Rang in Phuket Town. He is excellent for cutting/styling and colouring. Avoid them over the weekend as they are very busy with the office workers then. Also they are closed on Tuesdays.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I found a good place in Laguna, for 400 baht. It's still good to know of the other ones. I'll remember them.

i have recently cut my hair off by accident. i used to go to Cut and Curl in Central, but the last time i went there i told the woman to trim it and tidy it up but i wanted to keep the length. i was reading a magazine and by the time i looked up my hair was in a pile on the floor.

so i decided to not go back there again.

i recently discovered West One Salon, which is the one Natalie8 mentioned.

yes, its expensive - 2800thb for cut and colour, but man, does he know what he is doing. i have met few hair cutters in thailand who i feel comfortable with but George, the owner, is top of the list for me. he does a great cut, suggests different colours that will suit you, as opposed to saying 'what colour you wan?' and i have walked out a happy customer two times now (out of two visits).

so, if you want to splurge, george is the man.

You've only been there twice, next time it'll be 3,000. then 3,200 ... Better you keep a list of the alternatives on this thread. Keep 'em coming.

Hi Donna

Where is George at? Do you have his number?

Donna are you back?

I agree. George is great, He worked in London for 25 years. I paid 800 baht for a cut and im ok with that. I have had bad cuts before.

However in Kamala there is Chaem, he is also great and has been doing farang hair forever.

However I dont have his number and he is hard to find... he does cuts for about 300.

I dont have the number for George.. I just walked in. I think he is featured in this weeks Phuket Gazette....

I've had my hair cut in a number of places, including all the hairdressers in Central, and they've all pretty much ruined it. The ONLY one to do a decent job was the guy at West One, so whatever the cost, next time I will be going back there.
