True Internet/TV Package

My visa is coming up for renewal and when I checked it said should provide proof or residence such as rental agreement or utility bill in my name. I do not have anything so went down to True Internet to ask about signing up for internet/TV package. I was told by 2 different ladies in the shop that I need a work permit to do this. As I am married to a thai and have a retirement visa how can I get something in my name to show immigration. Are the 2 ladies correct ? As surely a single retired guy ought to be able to obtain internet/TV while staying here.

You say you are married but then you talk about single?

I have True Internet and had the name switched from my gf to mine. This was in Pattaya at Big C Extra. If I was taking out new I don't think there would have been an issue.

You don't state where you live. But if you are married you should have a yellow book. Obtainable at your local Amper (town hall) that is your guarantee of address. Sorry about print size but it's TV buggering about yet again. Have just had a thought you must have a registered your address at your local Visa place. Shouldn't have need for separate one. Might depend on what visa you require though. You can also get the local head man to do it that's if you are living in the sticks. That's what I had to do before we were married. Another thought. Do you have a Thai bank account in your name if so get them to give you a letter it might cost 100bht or so but an easy fix.

topt I used the example of single retired guy as how can they obtain an internet package. I have mine in family members name. Using that example shows that True (if correct) would lose these customers to other internet providers if they offered contracts in foreign names. Thanks for the info, I will check out Big C Extra

Just let the owner of the house write a paper stating something like: I hereby confirm that Mr. generealty is staying at my house with address xyz. Add a copy of the owner's id card and house book to it and you should be good to go.

Regarding internet: You can get such a contract without a work permit, but they want you to pay for the whole year in advance when you sign up. If the person told you that it's impossible then they had just no clue, just go to another shop.
