Bernie Sanders seeks U.S. presidency again in 2020

Like pretty much everyone, I like Bernie.  But he's too much of a socialist.  Free college?  Free medical?  Free everything essentially.  And I guess he'd pay for it all by taxing the heck out of rich folks.

No need. Funding all of the above is simple.

I love how the Trumpettes ramp things up. 'Democrat' becomes 'Liberal', becomes 'Leftie', becomes 'Commie B'stard'. The muppet is ranting on about 'Socialism' at the moment I see, interesting considering he's in Vlad's pocket (not that Vlad is pursuing socialism at the moment, more 'me-ism'.)

Personally I think its a shame Sanders didn't get the nomination last time- he seemed far more genuine than Hilarious. Unfortunately his time has passed and we will never find out.

The name calling is much the same on both sides. Capitalist pig, Wall Street puppet, etc. You just seem to think one stereotypical slur is more valid than the other.

Not sure about that when he spoke at the DNC I knew he would eventually make a good run at it. I don't think I was alone.

Which was far closer to election date than we are now.

Was just saying that nobody thought of Obama as a very strong candidate isn't really true. He was much stronger than any dem out there at this moment.

The speech I am talking about was in 2004 so much earlier.

I wholeheartedly agree Bernie would be of the most benefit if he ran as an Independent.

America's fake liberal party does not need Sanders. Also he's too old at nearly 80!

Didn't he make enough last time? All he'll do is collect campaign funds and then endorse another democrat.

I love this!

3 years ago, his ideas where dismissed as to naive, not practical...you name it!

Now every single candidate from the DEM's doesn't stand a chance, if they are not talking about raising the minimum wage, universal healthcare, fighting climate change etc.

Bernie raised the bar and that is a major achievement!

I really wish, he would get the nominee and just destroy the orange circus- peanut in every way possible!

Unfortunately: he won't get the nomination, because the media and the conservative democrats will run an ugly campaign against him.

For example: how could he not personally oversee the doings of every goddamn staffer in his last campaign!?

"Bernie raised the bar and that is a major achievement! "

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was employed there.

That's a minor achievement.

You do have a point....although I didn't watch the entire video.  If the US gov would cut down on waste, fraud, and abuse, we'd probably wipe out the budget deficit and start paying down the debt.  We should also cut defense spending....but the GOP would probably freak out.

That old saying always holds true. "When the election is between a Republican and a Republican, vote for the Republican." The age of the neoliberal is over IMO.

That said, I wish he chose not to run. The simple fact is at 77, he is likely too old to be President (same with Biden); yes, there are exceptions to this rule, but... Further, although he has had some great ideas and inspired many, many people, he has little experience implementing policies. The question must be asked; did all those Bernie supporters from last time support him for his managerial experience/ability or solely for his ideas? It was the ideas he represented. Finally, at the risk of being called ageist, I think the US needs a younger person at the helm. Yes, ask and listen to advice from the elders, but the US should have a younger person as leader.

I sincerely hope (because I genuinely like Bernie) that his candidacy comes to a swift end and that he can transition into an 'Elder Statesman' role under a Trump-less Presidency.

Did you graduate beyond the 2nd grade?

Bernie should have quit while he was ahead … in the polls.

He could have retired from his presidential ambitions as a kind of martyr/saint (even though in my opinion he wouldn't have beat "trump" either in 2016).

Now he's not going to be nominated, and it's not even going to be close.

Sorry for Bernie and his hard core base.

It just ain't gonna happen.

No, it's not because he's old either.

Speaking of that, assuming Biden gets in, he has a real shot.

Bernie doesn't.

Bernie has had two sources of income these past three years. His Senate salary and royalties from books he has written, That's it.

I've read a few books on political campaigns and in all of them there was a lot of sex going on.

I think she's awesome too, but she's also wrong about a lot of things too. Good intentions though and she'll figure it out.

You need people like her (and Bernie 3 years ago) who push the agenda further (to the left) in order the move the DEMs away from being the new conservatives!

If the REPs want to be the party of destroyed environment, people dying of a severe cold, because they ca't pay their doctors, praying "the gay" away and telling women what to do and think...let them be!

I'd rather see some "crazy" ideas that end up in progressive policies!

That's as a presidential candidate. As a SENATOR, he waddles his way up to the corporate trough just like the rest of them.

Good intentions mean nothing. This is running a country!  She has little to no grasp of basic government functions, basic economics, etc.  She will get Trump re-elected if she is given much more publicity.

The U.S. direct federal debt just hit $22 trillion dollars.  That is $176,000 per family in the U.S.A.  That does not include the unfunded mandates such as social security and medicate combined they are estimated to total $100 trillion dollars.  That does not also include the debt of the individual state and local governments.  What does Bernie propose.  Free College Tuition, Free Medicare for all.  There is nothing so expensive as when it is provided "free" for it is wasted and bloated with bureaucracy. Unless the colleges and health care institutions are working for free and have no expenses there is nothing free. Someone else just gets stuck with the bill.  As Margaret Thatcher so aptly said the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other peoples money.  I have been to Communist China.  They have no government health care, no free college, no government provided pensions.  Adopting capitalism China has not become the worlds second largest economy and is growing at 4 times the rate of the U.S.A.  So which caterpillar has transformed itself into socialism, while the other transformed itself into capitalism?

Congress has about a 10% approval rating and she's the flavor of the month. I tend to like principled people of both parties who more often than not wish to pursue agendas that don't have a snowballs chance in hell of being adopted. Still, it's good their voices are in the mix. There s room for them in a 535 member body. Just as I can like and appreciate what a Ruth Bader Ginsburg and an Antonin Scalia brought to the Supreme Court.

I agree somewhat, but Justices Ginsburg and Scalia at least knew/know what they were talking about. Rep. AOC is a joke. She doesn't have principles, she has whims.  Doubt she'll make it to her second term without a huuuuge primary fight in her district.

You do realize that the current President has "no grasp of basic government functions, basic economics, etc."  He's also corrupt to the core and is a pathological liar.  Even if woefully unqualified, AOC would be an improvement.

Says the Klobachar fan... you were anti-Bernie and pro status-quo in 2016 and you were wrong, and you will be wrong again in 2020.

She might be but in my opinion we don't really need a "trump" of the left. Let's go for being adults.
