The general election on March 24 will be Thailand’s first since February 2014, when political unrest and failure to complete national voting within a day saw the election scrapped. The last completed national vote took place eight years ago in July 2011.

people forget how easily that happened;  the current rulers would merely have to delay some voting as happened during the last one or plant some 'political unrest';  junta will continue on

A somewhat benign excuse.

The election wasn't scrapped. It was held but 90% of the votes cast on election day were voided by the Constitutional Court because 10% of the voters were prevented on the same day by pro-military/pro-PDRC supporters from access to their polling places. The election was the third or fourth that had been voided by the Constitutional Court since its creation.

When the election was rescheduled for May 2014, the military almost immediately overthrew the government and cancelled the election.

I must admit it is interesting to see active political rallying on the streets again here in rural Isaan but why do they have to use pick-ups and lorries fitted out with mega "ghetto blasters" playing VERY loud music?

And if the polls not going in the right direction just buy one for heavy hitting ????
