Best way to go from Bangkok to Krabi

Featured Replies

Hi, at the end of March I need to travel from Bangkok (probably Suk or Silom) to Krabi. I'll have been on lots of flights prior to this, so I'd prefer not to go by air.  But from what I'm reading online it seems going by air is so much faster. I don't want to waste a lot of time on the journey, so I'd rule out 12 hour bus journeys etc.

Does anyone know another reasonably quick way to get to Krabi from Bkk? Looking at the map this is probably a stupid question!

Would there be any advantage for me going from Don Muang instead of Swampy if I do end up flying?

Btw, I'm going to Gillhams fishing resort when i get there - in case that makes any difference.

Many thanks

I flew BKK KBV on Thai Airlines for 1,000 baht, each way, in the last 2 weeks. 1 hr. 10 min. flying time. Try the train/bus combo if you don't want to fly.

I hope Gilliam’s fishing are picking you up, it’s a long way from the airport.

It is not always so cheap to fly, sometime 70-100 usd. You can take a day train for 8 hours to surathani, spend a night and then a quick mini bus to Krabi. Is a painless journey.

I don't mind those types of journey, but I had limited time on this occasion.  Thanks for the info anyway
