Gavin Newsom floats November special election for his anti-Trump redistricting push
Hilarious that Newsom is referring to anyone as authoritarian after his performance during COVID. Anyway - this special election is designed to bypass the California Citizens Redistricting Commission - a commission introduced by vote in 2008 ( Prop 11 ) and 2010 ( Prop 20 ) designed to stop exactly this type of political interference. These are not ancient votes - California voters made it clear twice - do not do this. The only poll I have seen so far says that 62% are against this move, including 70% of independents. Here is what I expect to happen - some groups will file suit within days to prevent the election, a judge will issue a TRO. It will take at least six weeks to resolve - around the first week in October - that will result in the Nov 4 date failing due to time constraints. Newsom will try again around March 3, and if we assume he is successful his new map will be challenged by groups again - another TRO. Lets say he wins that case by May, that's when primary season begins. Do not underestimate the anger of Democrat incumbents having to absorb Republican areas into their districts, making them less winnable. It's the last thing the incumbents need during election season. This is not a Democrat slam dunk - and what will make it worse is some Red states that would have sat this out will now retaliate. Realistically if Newsom is successful he will pick up between 2 to 5 seats. If Red states retaliate ( and they will ) they will eradicate at least 10 Democrat seats plus the 5 expected from Texas. Newsom is rattling a toxic cage but he doesn't really care as he wants to run for President - he'll learn to care if the California Democrats end up in a civil war over redictricting in an election year - this is a very, very risky move that could easily backfire - especially if the Independents decide to punish the Democrats. -

Music listening is personal. Someone says, ah that one is good, maybe you dont like. Ah the bass , heavy dude, maybe too much. Put some music on phone , take some wires with you (or not), make up your budget and go out and try in shops. Decide with or without bassbox and done. More like 5.1 or 7.1?, what ever you like and want to pay. Like the sound of music or not? Worthwhile spending the money? Take it. My computer hangs on a Logitech Z906, great sound. But use it only if really listening music at comp. Would a Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus be so much better? No clue, never saw one in real or heard it, has something to do with prices. Only to be bought if miljonair. but would love to hear them once. Crime Thai Teens Arrested for Setting Disabled Dog on Fire

The atrocity unfolded in Wat Phra That Lampangluang's abandoned bathroom and came to public attention after the perpetrators, all aged 14, shared a video of their actions on social media. The footage showed the black dog, already suffering from previous injuries, attempting to hide behind a toilet as it was mercilessly set on fire. The animal, sadly, succumbed to the flames. Local residents, horrified by the footage, reported the incident to the Watchdog Thailand Foundation (WDT) on August 14. In response, police quickly detained the suspects. During questioning, the teenagers claimed they acted out of fear, suggesting they attacked preemptively, concerned the dog might bite them. However, this narrative was dismissed by WDT, who stated the dog’s disabilities from a prior accident made such an attack implausible. They further accused the teens of siphoning petrol from a motorcycle, using it to ignite the helpless animal. The teens asserted the dog survived by leaping away from the flames, a claim WDT firmly rejected. They pointed out that the dog’s condition rendered it too incapacitated to escape or retaliate. As the video circulated online, it provoked widespread outrage and calls for justice. WDT has urged Ko Kha Police to press the teenagers into revealing where they disposed of the dog’s remains. This heartless act has not only raised questions about animal cruelty but also highlighted the influence of social media on such behaviours. As authorities pursue justice, discussions about better education on animal rights and ethical behaviours for youths have gained momentum. Such acts of violence underscore a need for preventive measures and social interventions to avoid future occurrences. Lampang’s local community, along with various animal rights organisations, continue to push for accountability and strategies to protect vulnerable animals from such senseless cruelty. Meanwhile, the incident has sparked a renewed dialogue on how to effectively address juvenile delinquency and the societal factors that may contribute to such alarming actions. Authorities are encouraged to implement educational programmes focusing on empathy and respect for all living creatures, hopefully preventing similarly horrifying acts in the future. As this story unfolds, the nation watches closely, rooting for justice for the defenceless victim and advocating stronger protective laws for animals in Thailand.
