Hua Hin airport (HHQ) and visa exemption question

Can you fly into Hua Hin airport and get a 30 day visa exemption?

(USA passport)

 

I read conflicting reports on whether it is even an international airport yet and I'm also not sure if that matters... But this would be an international flight from Malaysia with no possibility of arriving with a visa.

 

They don't even seem to have a website! Some embassies list HHQ as having 'visa on arrival' capability as of last Dec, but I am asking about '30 day visa exemption.'

 

I assume if a Thai airport accepts international flights then there has to be an IO there with the 30 day stamp, but that's me assuming!

 

Any first-hand knowledge of this would be greatly appreciated.

I think Air Asia to Hua Hin from KL daily,

Shows up on my phone... there must be immigration facilities and VW is used for Malaysians too.

You can fly into any international airport here and get visa a exempt entry.

If you are flying into Hua Hin on a international flight you can get a visa exempt entry.

Hua Hin airport is an international airport. The only scheduled flights are from Kuala Lumpur. You can get a visa exempt entry without difficulty flying in there, subject to the usual qualification that some immigration officials can be tough on people entering visa exempt who spend a lot of time in Thailand.
