Minibus hire and restrictions

Sorry if this has been asked before, I did a search but found nothing.

I passed my test in the UK after 1997 and this only allows me to drive an 8 seater with a max 3500kg weight limit, do these restrictions still apply in Thailand as could do with hiring a 12 seater to get all the in-laws in.

You are planning to use your UK license + IDP?

Max 8 people and 3500 Kg, says so on the IDP itself

What confuses me is that even with the "B" category (car) it does say that larger minibuses can be driven if not for gain, if you have held your license for more than 2 yrs etc.

I'm not sure if this applies to my circumstances or does that apply to clubs, scouts etc?

Worst case scenario, get an 8 seater and leave some behind. Lol

Where does it say so?

Actually driver + 8 people = 9 total

And according to Thai law children under a certain age (maybe 10? forget the exact age) only count as half a person, which makes an adult + 2 children legal on a motorbike, but i'm not sure how this works in a car with the seat belts.
