Economy 400 Baht Minimum Wage Now in Effect for Bangkok
Cheap housing , cheap food , cheap transport. Usually there are more than one people in a household that have a wage. Strange, last time I went shopping I saw prices of some items go down. And yes years ago , it was kind of a sport for me to stay under 400 B/day. -

Camerata's Guide To The Permanent Residence Process
I never registered for e-gates as my PR booklet was 2/3 full and I have heard of people having a problem after changing the PR booklet and they could no longer use eChannel or whatever it's officially called. And Immigration couldn't fix it. So I wanted to wait until I change the booklet, which I did but forgot about that. Each time I go through counters, they stamp both my passport and PR booklet. In the past I saw someone going through eChannel and then going to a desk where an officer stamped both booklets. And that took longer than going through the Thai passport counter... That's why I am interested in it. If there's no need for any stamps when going in and out of country into these booklets, I'd definitely prefer to use e-gates, so the passport and the white book don't fill up. Their annual non-quota visa and endorsement stamps are taking enough space already. -

Will there ever be a safe vaccine?
i'm baaaack! I certainly don't make many friends when i object to something one of the Substack authors write . But hey, somebodies gotta do it ; 2nd Smartest Guy in the World ....jul 2 : "If President Trump really knows how to pick talent, then why did he pick traitors like Mike Pence, John Bolton, William Barr, and most recently Elon Musk?" Rumak: There are times in life when it is impossible to be prepared when entering new territory, especially the completely corrupt govt system/people in the US. This system completely ate up every president for decades. Trump's first term he got caught out. The accolades (instead of the above take on being bushwacked) ........ should be the unique strength and determination to learn from those mistakes. Mistakes that he admits . I do think he did a lot better this time, don't you ? -

Trump’s Gaza ceasefire boasts will mean nothing unless he can get a grip on Israel
This is an interesting and sobering article outlying the obstacles to peace with both Israel and Hamas. I have quoted three sentences near the end of the piece as they offer some light amid all the gloom. If Trump wants to earn the Nobel Peace Prize which he thinks he already richly deserves, he needs to end Israel’s impunity by ending the subsidies that allow it to make war. Hamas and its fellow recidivist travellers to Armageddon can only be put out of business if the Palestinians, who already despair of all their leaders, can be offered a path that isn’t towards more generations of apartheid, occupation and indignity. Trump could help end a zero sum grand guignol by forcing Israel to back away from its “river to the sea” policies while Hamas’ demands of sovereignty in the same space can be swept aside by a genuine return to Palestinian faith in liberty. Trump’s Gaza ceasefire boasts will mean nothing unless he can get a grip on Israel
